  • Well I wanted the last few entries from me to be positive here so I could start my new challenge till Christmas on a good note but I got a letter today from the Inland revenue people and apparently I owe them 912 pounds.

I had a very short period of self employment about 7 or 8 year ago. Never made any money and so stopped after about a year.

I am terrified frankly. I think it is because I never unregistered.

I could borrow the money from my CC I suppose.

    so yeah. wetting myself here!

    xx

Oh Buffy what a kick in the teeth! Don't pay anything until you've checked it out. If you didn't make a profit how can you owe tax on it? You only pay tax on profit on self employment. Did you fill in any self assessments? Have you got any records to prove you didn't make a profit?

am trying not to worry about it, had to sort pets tonight and still have marking.

Well I am back from the land of the Bratwurst and it was fab. Horrifically expensive but on the basis you only live once and it was too good an opportunity to pass up I decided I absolutely HAD to have the mini house thing, fridge magnet, shot glasses and various postcards....

Still 11.50 Euros for a vodka and lemonade.

Moving on. Looked at the money situation and it all looks ok. Amazingly so. I get paid on Friday. Should be able to pay the holiday bills and either pay something to savings or the main cc (currently 4716)

Once I am back to paying monthly I *maybe* able to lower that by 1600 by the end of the year.

    That is my aim.

we shall see :) although am very hopeful

Was thinking about Taxi today. I saw her diary in my subscriptions - you know when it has a new post, sort of half forgot for a sec. Makes me feel so sad. I am relieved she isn't in pain or having to be afraid. Am proud to have known someone so many people loved and who clearly was a wonderful friend. Still today, tonight as her family go to bed, when it is all over for everyone else it is just beginning for them, all over again in a different way. You realise it really doesn't end, that that person will now always be missing. It is a rough old world some days.

    night all xxx

  • Morning all,

Back to reality, 4 dead fish, guinea pigs didn't have water when I got home - generally they drink a bottle a day so am assuming Mum just hadn't done it that day, need to go out to get them food and wood chip... plus feed the cat (of a mate, haven't got a new pet!) The gerbils don't look right which is depressing so need to make appointment.

The dogs ate Mum's slippers and seem very subdued :( and confused. Both were sick over the weekend(not surprising). Am a bit fed up with it all to be honest. I love them but as they have no routine they are so badly behaved and one of them still pees in the house - only the kitchen which has lino so not much of a disaster but it does cause stress. I need to make more effort but am at work so often and at different times this just seems to stress them.

Talking of which got work tonight. should be selling the hutch but am having a can't be bothered moment. which is silly cos I need it gone!

going to eat some toast and try not to panic about having so much to do.

I haven't really - just need to get on with it.

    xxxx

Give the tax office a call and ask for a detailed breakdown. They told us we owed £770 but when we got the breakdown they'd got figures wrong, they then sent us a cheque for £350 :). Don't agree to pay until you've checked and double checked.

Sorry Buffy but even though your "hormonal" post was negative it still made me laugh. Am so glad I took after my mum and had early but trouble free menopause! Hope you're back to normal soon.
