Watching a BIN. Why?

I know that some sellers may watch a BIN to see how much certain items sell for - especially if they have something similar to sell. But one of my items is BIN or make an offer and it has a lot of watchers.
Apart from watching to gauge what prices are being paid - completed listings would do this quicker - does anyone know why buyers bother to watch without making an offer?
Just curious

So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

Maybe they want to check with their partner and are watching it so that they can find it again?0

They might need that, but haven't decided yet.
Or as a reminder to look occasionally for similar items
I just bought some glue I'd been watching for 3 or 4 months0 -
They want it in their watch list so the if another auction item goes over that, they can easily find it to buy it later on.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

I'm still watching some small microfibre cloths I bought about 5 months ago, so they've dropped out of the bought items list.
They are for cleaning glasses or camera lenses, but I use them for something else.

If I want to buy something that won't go through the letterbox I like to be home when it's likely to be delivered.
So if I see something I want to buy, I'll put it on my watch list, to order when it won't be delivered on Thursday or Friday, when I'm not home.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Maybe they're watching thinking they do not really need it but if there's no offers nearer the end date then they might put a daft or low offer in? I think I have done that before when I liked something but didn't really need it.The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0

I watch BINs on the sort of things you use up - like blank dvds or printer ink. I notice I'm running low and research the prices when I have spare time so when I really need it, I can quickly check no one has snuck in with a lower price in the meantime and then buy.0

Competitors watching, probably.0

Thanks - just my curiosity - I usually have less than 10 watchers on a BIN sometimes only 2 or 3. As you all say I think it must be a case of spotting it and marking it to come back later especially in this lovely weather when there are more important things to do like lie in the garden. That is where I am off to now

I use it as a shortlist when browsing for stuff so I can quickly find stuff again. I stop watching once I've ordered the one I want.0
