TMTI VIP Cancellation?

This is nonsense. If you READ when you buy you will know. Print it out and you can check. I've never had any problem cancelling anything - insurance or TMTI. But then why would I complain when all my minutes and texts (as well as the phones) are FREE??0

The company web site is unavailable and theres no answer when phoned.
The bank is liable to pay as I never gave my permission for this DD but I dont see why they should have to - TMTI should just do the decent thing and pay up.0 -
The TMTI is at the point of sale - it's forced on you but not their fault if you didn't notice. If you didn't "took" the phone then you must have cancelled it within the cooling off period - in which case the TMTI should have been cancelled too. If you kept a contract running with or without the phone for some reason (and therefore didn't cancel the contract) I doubt you have a case. Complaining to whichever statutory body is a complete waste of time and effort. Not noticing a direct debit going out for months on end won't help much either.0

Hi mobile junkie,
Can you answer something for me? I phoned up these TMTI idiots because I hadn't received any details with policy id etc on it. They said that they cancelled it and no money would be going out... this was a month ago. Just looked at my account they've taken £17.94 and i said to the bank it was cancelled and they said nothing we can do... if you cancel the direct debit they can just reissue and take further money out.
What legal rights do i have because i've spoken to TMTI and now they are denying all knowledge of me ever having cancelled it and furthermore state they sent my details out 5 times in the post.
Any recommendations??
Thanks
nirave
P.S. they really do take the p*ss on the phone and deliberately keep you on hold for about 15 minutes before being willing to answer anything... each question i asked them i was on hold for 15 minutes - 2hour call in total!! You can't cancel online without your policy id which they send to you in the post (if you ever get it)
thanks
I cancelled both TMTI and the insurance as soon as I bought the phone.
The insurance was cancelled fine but TMTI "Talk me through it" or "Gadget helpline" as they said they were called when they answered the phone - was not cancelled
I didn't notice the original payment in March - ok, my fault but I was changing a lot of accounts at the time and it slipped through.
They don't take the money every month - that'd be easier to notice of course!
Then they took another payment in september. This one I noticed. £17.94 with a reference which begins TMTI
I had no idea who these people were. I'd bought the phone way back in february and have not had anything from them at all!
I phoned e2save and got the phone number from them. They were unwilling to take any responsibility for the problem in spite of the fact that they set it up in the first place.
I phoned TMTI and explained the problem. She took my name and the reference number from the direct debit and found me on their system.
She said there was no record of the account having been cancelled and that documents had been sent to me. !!!!!!!!.
She just kept saying that I had not cancelled and that documents had been sent. Nothing would budge her from this.
I asked her how I went about getting my money back. She said that the latest payment could be refunded but not the original one.
I said that I had never used this service and had no way of doing so as I had no contact details for them until I'd phoned e2save to find it out.
She insisted that there was no way I could have the original March payment of £17.94 back.
Obviously a lot of people are just going to dismiss this and so they will make at least one month's payment from everyone who buys a phone at e2save. Nice scam if you can get away with it!!
Anyway it remains to be seen if I will get my money back. She said it will be in my bank by monday.
The number I phoned was 08804296046
I also asked for a business address to try and get my money back by letter.
The address is
TMTI
Corsley Garage
Corsley Heath
Warminster
Wiltshire
BA12 7PL
Next time I will only buy from e2save if they agree not to set this up in the first place!! I've always found their customer service line pretty accomodating.0 -
I have just stumbled across this thread from google. I too have had a direct debit set up from TMTI that I knew nothing about when I purchased a mobile phone from e2save.
When I rang TMTI to ask them who they were and why they were taking money they simply said that I had consented to the direct debit when I purchased my mobile and that they had sent an email to me with details of their service - an email which I funnily have never received!
When I told them that I had received no such email they simply said that it would have been sent out by letter if the email failed. I also did not receive a letter! By this time I was furious with the call centre staff as they were being totally obstinate, rude and unhelpful. In the end they agreed to return the money for 5 months out of the 6 I had already paid for, but would take no further action.
I am disgusted that a company can take money from anyones bank account without ANY communication before hand. Whether or not you agreed to a "FREE 30 day trial" (which I do not remember doing although I do remember the free insurance and had no problems with communication or cancelling) - you should still receive a letter telling you when payments are due to be taken and how much they will be. Not to mention, you should receive your customer details so that you can actually use the service you are paying for!
I have since made my bank aware of the issue and they have refunded the money under the Direct Debit Guarantee. Now I am just waiting to see if TMTI (fraudsters) Ltd try to claim it back........:mad:0 -
Like Andreab, I've found e2save to be surprisingly helpful and efficient.
I'm coming up to the end of the free month with TMTI. They haven't sent me a welcome pack or anything like that.
Does anyone know what the full reference is on the DD? I think someone mentioned it began "TMTI....", I thought I might be able to ask my bank to refuse any DDs to a specific name.0 -
Just cancelled my TMTI account.
Check your email history, for an email from donotreply@gadgethelpline.com
You should have an a reference number, take that and put it into the first field on the web site, i'm not allowed to post links at the mo, so search google for "the gadget help line" the click on cancellations on the top right.
You need your 8 digit bank account number and your email address. once i did this it cancelled my account. Wish I did it earlier, lost almost £18.
Hope this works for you guys.0 -
Just spoke with TMTI and e2save regarding charges dating back FIVE years! they refunded 2 years of charges and our bank will hopefully get the rest via the direct debit indemnity scheme.
Called e2save on 01373 839990 and TMTI on 0208 89650000
Hope this helps someone and it points out the need to check bank statements thoroughly! my new years resolution!:j:j:j0 -
my wife has just had a dd and insurance fraudulently set up with this company acting for dialaphone. They were very helpful -to give them credit - and even gave us the surname of the fraudster but not details. Unfortunately the police say they have to wait for bank to contact them and the banks dont seem interested in following up such " minor " frauds.Last win 2013!! Oh well.
Many thanks to our wonderful posters and apologies to the mods for all the postings I've made which then turned out that I've been pipped at the post.0 -
