  • First and Foremost - can I just say an incredibly big THANK YOU to everyone that has taken the trouble to post here today. You don't know how much it means to be heard and 'taken seriously' IYSWIM :)

I have posted on the 'Techie' page, and can I just quickly say Shovel Lad that I am expecting to be told that I'd be better off using Fox It - and is the other one Reddit? But it is good to hear you recommend it. Thank you.

I'll be back in a mo with proper thanks for all you lovely people :D

  • Good Evening :hello:

greenbee - how nice to *see* you - thank you for replying, especially as - if I'm correct - you've got a lot going on in RL just now. Do you know, I sometimes wish I was more of an 'ignore and click' kinda person - it'd save a lot of arguments. Reading fine print is not all it is cracked up to be!!! :rotfl: So potentially, there could be no issue with just using the reader, it's when you use the more tech spec stuff that you may encounter the P2P issue..... right. Ta :D

Beanie - haven't got a clue is exactly how I would sum up my feelings :rotfl: Thank you for your support :D

Piquant - another who has taken time out of a busy schedule to leave a thoughtful post. Thank you. Yes, I do hope that using the reader doesn't mean leaving yourself open to folks putting 'stuff' on your hard drive. To coin MG, I've pulled my BGK's on and put out a plea on the techie board........ Thank you.

Karma - do you know, I have OO on my machine and I tried that technique to open up a HMRC form. It coped with 3 pages OK, but it could not open the first page correctly. It bunched all the words up and refused to incorporate the HMRC logo. I had to use the library machine in the end to get hold of a 'front page'. But I haven't tried it again (took it off my extensions list) for this new scenario. I'll bear it in mind. Thank you for your input - it is appreciated :D

EH - thanks for dropping by. I hope puss-cat is back to usual 'pounding of the beat' and the fireworks have stopped. None so far here this evening. Glad you enjoyed your stew and dumplings :D

Shovel Lad - really, so nice to *see* you. Thank you - you have given me food for thought. :D

So.....today......DP is in a slightly better mood.........

I got a NSD under my belt today - didn't take my purse out :T

Dinner was dire - used that awful cous cous pasta again. The taste was ok (mushroom and spinach) but the texture - ugh! just like I imagine frogspawn must be like to eat (*ahem*, if you were to ever indulge in such a thing). I'm very much afraid I am coming to the opinion that the remaining 2 bags will have to be thrown out. Much as it pains me to even contemplate doing it. But I've tried cooking it in 3 different ways, and all have resulted in gloop worthy of selling as a 'size' for pre-treatment of walls that you intend to wallpaper :D I shall not buy this product again. Bleurk!

I used my new coat today - I was toasty warm and the little rain that it saw stayed on the outside :T

In my excitement about garments yesterday, I forgot to tell you I found 5p *roadkill* :T Nothing today though :(

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

folk who join in and help/aid/assist - thank you

for free food - despite the pasta fiasco, I did also make apple crumble using the free apples we picked up a couple of weeks ago. At least we have that to look forward to eating, once the pasta has [STRIKE]set[/STRIKE] settled down......:rotfl:

that I agonise about throwing out food, and try to make ingredients work - food waste is a problem in terms of wasted resources, wasted money, land and water contamination issues and frankly, a lot of the time, a moral outrage......If I tossed items in the bin without a thought, I would be worried.....

Thank you so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. Know that you are greatly appreciated. By me :D

    See y'all later.

    Hi

We have just upgraded to a new Mac OS (for free..amazingly) and it seems we have lost access to the MS Office suite..luckily OH has managed to get us a version of Mac pages at £13.99 rather than the £80 odd that I think office would have cost and should do the same thing. Only mention it as there is often a workaround. I would have just got cross and paid MS but OH was determined not to pay that..maybe the MSE bug has hit him harder than I thought!

We have some orzo pasta which OH is determined to use up (from our cavernous larder) with some SC venison stew tomorrow(part of his buy nothing November food challenge!) ..sounds a bit like the pasta you hate GP...can't say I am keen...am wondering if I can get home early, intervene and use basmati rice instead :rotfl:

I've been meaning to say hello for a while, but have just been enjoying reading. Hope it helps - it wasn't much effort as I was actually going through the paperwork for work anyway  It did make me think about this bit though rather than skip over it (well, it's 32 pages and not very exciting...) I am wondering where you've been hanging out though if you know so much about my chaotic life :o

Would it work in a soup or casserole? Or possibly porridge given the sound of it... maybe try posting a thread about it here or on MG's forum for ideas. If not, cook it up and feed it to the birds...

That might constitute cruelty to birds....... :rotfl:

Beanie - thank you. Mind you we'd have to :shhh: and tiptoe ever so quietly out to the bin so that Pippi didn't hear us........ :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ay up Brizzle - yes, you are right, there will be a way round it, either I am panicking over nothing, or the simple solution will be to change reader as Shovel Lad advocates. Loving how MSE your fella is getting..... :D

  • If its not fit for the birds - oh dear.

Now I thought you were going to suggest local food bank - but frogspawny goo - perhaps not you're far too kind for that.

Tip toes away quietly, hoping the fodder landed in a very good bin shaped object.

Bleurgh to frog spawn disguised as grub.

    Good Morning :hello:

Bleurgh, running a little late this morning.... How can you wake up exhausted? :rotfl:

Hi Pippi - actually you prompted me to check that pasta, and even though it originated from App F00ds it is still in date until August next yr :rotfl: Which probably means the reason it was being got rid of was..................:rotfl: No, I couldn't in all conscience donate it, unless I am really, really losing the plot, it is a really difficult product to work with. It sticks to the pan - even when you have just coated each bead in oil! How does that happen? :rotfl:

I will be aiming for another NSD today.

It should of been Jack's 9p burgers for dinner according to the planner, but I did none of the prep last night, so we may well have to make a substitution - I should of made yoghurt as well last night too, but didn't :(

Have a great day - I intend to - once I have caught myself up :D

Thank you for popping by, reading and commenting. It is appreciated, very much. By me :)

    See y'all later.

  • Now, I'm a scoffer but I can't honestly say that if something hasn't made GP standards I think its probably only fair to give it a decent send of (please don't post it :D) to the great food bin in the sky.

Although it sounds like it could make rather fabulous science experiment - if only there was a need for sticky gloopy stuff. NASA? Might stick on their labels on their space crafts and stay on in space?

    Have a good un.

  • I did once hear that "Post It" notes were created accidentally, when someone was trying to create a glue which stuck, and stayed stuck, and instead came up with something which peeled off, and stuck back again....maybe your pasta stuff has its origins in a similar set of experiments?! :D I'm tempted to dare you to send it to Pippi to see what she can make of it, but considering its long lifespan I'm slightly un-nerved we may get served it as a "treat" next time we're up there, if so....! ;)

I've been meaning to try those 9p burgers - BUT it needs to be a day when MrEH isn't around to see the prep or he'll have decided he doesn't like them long before they hit his tastebuds. whatever you eat, hope it's tasty!
