  • A shiny new month and roadkill already.

    What a great start.

Loved the post-match-analysis of October - well done you one being so generous and still coming in 30p under.

I'm all for a bit of lentil escapage.

;D Bonne chance in this this fine month Greying and all your lovely chums.

PS EH - I think you do a pretty amazing job! (and yes its fruiting if its nuts, as they are fruits not seeds :D)

    I'll get my coat.

  • Good Morning and Good Afternoon :hello:

    Are you well?

I've been getting the shopping supplies in this morning, hence why I didn't post earlier. Only had time to tap on Pipster's window to make sure she wasn't late for another shift at the coal face :D

Upsidedown Bear - thank you for your kind encouragement :D I'll try to maintain standards :D

Pippi - I'm up for a bit of botanical explanation any day of the week. Explain away :D And just to confuse you, the curry is in the freezer - hopefully it will contribute to another meal :D

Piq - you just crack me up :D:D Virtual curry, floating through the ether with your name on it :D

Right, burnt porridge tidied away, kitchen restored to former glory. Tsk, it's just as though a rummaging whirlwind has been through.......

I've walked quite a fair bit today, but no *roadkill* found. Folks must of learnt to darn and patch :T

I picked up some UHT milk for the Food Bank, plus a couple of bottles of shower gel - then promptly forgot loo paper, so I'll have to make a detour back to mrT to get that. Still they are all items on the 'most wanted' list of our local place, so they will be acceptable. I think it is best for me if we make our FB purchases/donation at the start of the month. Rest assured it is done then.

I luckily bumped into the non-gardening parental, so the carefully measured out portion of cornmeal was handed over. Cake experimentation will now commence :D No sign of the gardening parental - not even in the seed section in W*lkinsons - which apparently they have stocked with new season seeds - whatever happened to 'C' mas taking over the entire shop floor from October onwards?????? :rotfl:

Well, I suppose I had better away and put the shopping in the cupboard. The rest will be coming back with DP (in the car) later this afternoon - I've no intention of becoming a pack horse meself :rotfl:

I've no idea what to make for dinner - I've 29 choices though, so I had better transform them into a recognisable meal planner quick sharpish. I can however, make apple crumble and cake now as I've restocked with baking fat. DP will be pleased :D

I hope England do well in the Rugger - Union and League :D

Thank you as ever, for dropping by, reading and commenting. You know I appreciate it :D

    See y'all in a bit

    Hi Greying!

I think your foodie pic from yesterday is lovely - if you'd mixed all the colours together, now that would be a different story :rotfl:

Good for you for donating to the foodbank already - thats a very good idea, and there's definitely one in my rich little town, so I shall find out where it is and how they take donations.

And I may just pass by "my" sweet chestnut tree today :D and I'm *definitely* going to harvest the chili peppers outside - the plants are completely drowned, and also completely leafless - snails have eaten all the leaves :rotfl:and left the peppers  which tickles my sense of humour somehow :D

Hope your day is going well

Karma - you've cracked it! Pre-flavoured snails!! Hot on the heels of Kobi beef and salt-marsh lamb - solanaceae snails! (genus: capsicum) EH could do the publicity pics, Pippi could make sure said snails are sitting on the right plant when photographed (:)), I'll have a word with Gordy, Hugh 'n Jaymee and get this revolution started - you'll be rich - rich I tell you :D:D

  • Good Evening :hello:

Brrr, it's got a bit chilly here now. The wind is whipping around too.

Whoop! and well done to the England rugger teams in both the union and league games - good wins both. I saw the league game, but not the union as we don't have $ky.

    Commiserations to Delia though :(

So my 'spendy' day is over. Actually, I am all 'shopped out'. I can't believe how much I spent today, and actually how 'little' I have to show for it. I realise that some of the items aren't for us and that some of the items were non food. But there were no treats, no alcohol, a few veggies and no fruit and I've spent over £37. Faintly ridiculous I feel. I baulked at paying 59p a kilo for carrots. I ended up getting them at 50p a kilo from L*dl - but how I wish i'd snaffled a bag of 'horse carrots' from the farm shop last week :(

Still, I came to a decision of what to make for dinner, and we ended up with Lentil Bolognese with fusilli pasta. The mushrooms were the last of the YS'd ones i'd bought September and frozen, the lentils are the App foods ones and the fusilli was mrM basics, bought when the bags were 30p - I see they are up to 39p now. So, all in all a reasonably priced meal, none left over for snap though :( A little grated cheese would of been nice, but I'd forgot to research the best price and so didn't buy any today. A glass of red would of been a nice addition, but I couldn't physically carry anymore shopping today, and DP won't buy wine unless specifically directed to the exact bottle, for fear of getting a 'duff' one. Still, never mind, it would of added to the meal - not made it :D

Not too sure how interesting this is, but.....

    So, today I am grateful for these 3 things;

a sense of humour - we've got some 'right waggs' on 'ere. But I love havin' a larf, so gawd bless ya :D

for lists and research - saved me time and money today :D

good weather - even with all my walking about today, I only got slightly damp - it came to rain heaviest when I'd returned home and had no further need to go out :D

Thank you so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

  • Good Morning :hello:

I have a feeling it might be a looonnng day. DP is in a grump :(

Ah well, we've been out spending money already, so can't claim a NSD. But I'll probably finish off buying all the 'stock' items today, therefore not ruining another NSD. But day 3 of November and only 1 NSD bagged :(

I had hoped to go to a NT property today - it was the last day that their gardens were open this year. But I'll be honest with you, I listened to the weather forecast and thought that we were in for windy weather all weekend. This particular NT property is some miles away - possibly a 2 hr drive - so I had mentally 'written off' our visit, and have no picnic things prepared. Of course, have woken up to a morning, which very much resembles a mill pond :(

I suppose I could do household chores instead :(:( :rotfl:

Lunch will have to be soup of some description - DP may well be wearing it if he carps on for much longer........

Dinner will have to be a change from what is on the planner - silly me followed last night's 'Lentil Bolognese & pasta' with 'Greek Casserole' - which is essentially lentils and pasta

Right - bright eyed and bushy tailed, I am off to seize the day.

Have a good one yourselves :D

Thank you for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

  • I've just stumbled upon this diary and subscribed after page 2. Loving the frugal veggie meal ideas and your lovely positive attitude. Off to catch up on the rest now but I'll be back with some input into the veggie meal ideas soon. (I'm a veggie too, and a huge fan of curries as very cheap meals!)
