ooooo - poaching rings did you say? - we have a set of those - I think OH uses them to make round fried eggs! - now I'll be able to emulate your perfect little rounds!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

See rtandon - there is no great mystery to anything that I do :D Eminently copiable - 'coz I've usually seen summat and thought, 'ooooh, I could do that' :D

Upsidedown Bear - loved yesterday's smilie :D And how you've decorated your avatars :D

Yesterday was a full-on action day. Don't think that we'll bother doing that trail again. Most of it was nice, but one bit was an absolute energy sapper - I've never had to work so hard to cover a flat bit of ground! The wildlife was wonderful. At one point we were about 200 yards from a motorway flyover, and we could see the traffic whizzing in one direction, and backing up in a queue in t'other. We looked back to where we were and there were 4 of the fattest, fluffiest squirrels (grey - unfortunately) sat in a tree, feasting on the hips. They weren't arguing, cussing or chattering. They were just munching :D We also saw a fox. We also saw loads of.... now, I'm going to have to check my facts here, but I think that they were [STRIKE]either redstarts, or [/STRIKE]redwings. Never seen so many in my life. At one point, as we were going along, the bushes/trees were absolutely 'alive' with bird life and as we went along, we 'set' them off, so we had 'outfliers' of birds to accompany us :D It's also been a long time since I have seen so many thrushes in one fell swoop too. Lovely :DEdit: Right, according to t'net we saw; Redwings, Fieldfares and song thrushes :D And jolly lovely they all were to :D

    Dinner last night was unsophisticated, as I was dead on my feet. So we had Cocido (veggie version :D) with some rye bread that I'd picked up YS'd in a mrW that we popped into in rather a posh town.....on the way home - no NSD snagged yesterday :( Picture here;

I'm going to finally write up my meal-plan today. All the meals we have had are off the planner, but I'm randomly picking, so we need a bit more order to it. Hence, I currently have zero idea what is for dinner this evening.

Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. Know that I greatly appreciate it - always.

    See y'all later.

Good morning Greying and Pilgrims, gosh what a lot of energy you expended, makes me feel tired just thinking about riding off-road these days, didn't ever do much of it in my younger and once fit days, but did have a few "interesting" rides on Forest tracks in the Lake District:eek: (Not very good at the going down hill on steep bits when it felt that my head was too low and my butt too high and the whole thing too fast for my reaction timing:eek:), however, I never fell off on those bits, only on easy parts when something distracted my attention too much:rotfl:

The sighting of the Field Fares and Thrush cousins suggests that it is flippin cold in Northern Europe or somewhere as that is when they normally visit our part of the country, just over the border in Herefordshire they frequent the apple orchards, also sometimes visit my Ma's garden which has fruit trees, lovely sight.. I have been stocking up on food for my garden birdies all summer and was stupidly excited to find a circular fat ball feeder in the sales last week, OH was not too amused at having to wait in most of the day for it though:D

    Morning everyone!

It's been so long since I posted... I get the email link on subscription every day so I've been reading about you all, and wondering at the mysterious photos and smilies (because I can't see those in the thread). I read my emails on the bus on the way in to work.

I have been so, so busy with work, you wouldn't believe! Still am, so will pop up only now and then for a while. But I like getting these reminders that people are getting on, being creative, enjoying baking and stuff. I'm going to be making some mince pies soon... but we're planning a quiet Christmas this year.

    :hello:Anyway - hello!
    Keep reading books!

Pippi - how lovely to *see* you :D:D:D:D We were lucky last year, in that a flock of redwings took up residence in the gardens here. They stayed for about 3 weeks, stripped the mountain ash and the holly bare and then left. I'd not seen one at all before that. But whereas that was a flock of mmmm 30 - 40 birds, they were just constant yesterday.

And, um, well, in my defence yur honour, I've 29 options at least for this month, just not in any particular order and I'm wondering about the 3 days I've not yet planned for...... DP struggles to go for 3hrs without nosh, never mind 3 days

maddiemay - Northern Europe can send us their lovely birdies if its too cold over there, as long as they don't send us their weather too  Yes, we were off-road, but it was a cycle trail, not a mountain bike trail - I don't want to give the impression I'm a budget version of Lara Cr0ft ;):rotfl: It was just the particular surface - frankly, cycling in a treacle-mine would have been an easier option! YAY! to finding good price bird food. The lady behind me in mrW yesterday was purchasing a bag of bird seed. Must be nice to be able to attract all manner of birds to the garden.

wishus - lovely of you to drop in. Hello back. I know you're all busy - it amazes me everyday that people generously give up their spare time to pop onto the thread. So thank you :D

DP and I were just chatting about yesterday, and I had forgotten to mention that when at one point I had gone ahead, to get an *action* shot of him cycling along the trail, a stoat or weasel - we're leaning toward stoat, as he said it was only tiny, but long with a long tail, shot across the track in front of him. So in the wilds we was! :D

I was thinking yesterday about how I was blethering on about 'simple, modest, eating' in the run up to Chrimbobs - and you're right, recently the thread has been awash with pastry, mash and chocolate :rotfl:

Lovely to *see* you Cheery as ever :D You've been super busy in your own life - never mind coming on here and supporting me :D
