  • Good Morning :hello:

Up with the larks, and thankfully the grump has dispersed. Very first world problems, in the grand scheme of things. And yes, I so agree with you shortie, the grump was as much about me being annoyed with myself at being grumpy at something, as it was with being disappointed with the 'something' I was disappointed about! :rotfl:

Never mind, before I went to bed, I was lucky enough to take in the latest blog post over at the Quince Tree blog and that and the comments that follow, made me smile - which helped :)

NoOneAround - you are quite right, we don't have pud often either, but as I had the oven on to heat up the hotpot and 2 large cooking apples to use, I figured pud was in order. Jolly nice it was too :) And YAY :j to your pictorial debut :) I see t1ny pic is actually owned by Pbucket, but interestingly, the size that they give as suitable for forum pics is the size that I use - I came across it by trial and error *picking* sizes to reduce to - doh!:rotfl:And I like that you've seen a heart in the farls - I must have given that one to DP :A:D

moneyistooshorttomention - funnily enough, I have come across an *interesting* savoury scone recipe in a library book that I got recently. I have had Suzy's 'leftovers' book from the library - I think it is a good read, lots of good tips, especially if folks are new to cooking. Not sure I'd buy it, but worth a borrow, definitely. Thanks for the link - I didn't know that she had a blog - and her rant about bee tee could have been written by anyone who has ever had dealings with that company! :rotfl:

rtandon - aw, that's not very nice is it? How are we supposed to learn if people make us feel silly :o Did you bother buying any off him?

teapot2 - I was going to be a 'romanesco cauli Queen' of the allotment with all the seed I planted...... don't think that it ever got beyond the seedling stage.......... :rotfl:

DP has just come down stairs - my peace is shattered :(:rotfl:

Right, well, I have got tons to do again today. But for some of it, I shall be mistress of my own destiny, so I'm ready for a bit of hard work :D

Dinner this evening is going to be courtesy of Miss Leanne. I'm following a recipe of hers that I have only done (a version of) once before, and I wasn't impressed. So let's hope that the gal can make me a convert :D

It won't be a nsd, as if nothing else, I will be purchasing [STRIKE]a gallon of gin [/STRIKE]a light libation to accompany 'us tea' :D

I'd better go away and stroke a rumpled DP, I think he may well have 'caught' my grump, and it's developed into grumpFLU overnight ........ :rotfl: I'd be no use to the nursing profession me, would I?

Thank you for popping by, reading and joining in. I remain greatly appreciative.

See y'all later - as frankly, we couldn't get any earlier could we? :rotfl:

    Morning GP!

Hope you & DP have sorted out the grumpies! This time of year is hard on everyone with the light fading early & cold drawing in, must be even harder with the trades in making things a bit topsy turvy in the house. Sending anti-gump hugs your way on this weekend-eve.
...rtandon - aw, that's not very nice is it? How are we supposed to learn if people make us feel silly :o Did you bother buying any off him?...

OOPS! didn't mean to protrait my lovely veg man in a negative light! Teach me to try and reply whilst on the evening commute!

I love my veg man - he's taught me so much about the strangest veg & the normal ones too - he was just bowled over that I didn't know that variety of cauli when he usually has me gushing over the amazing variety of veg he grows and sells. To him it was so obvious that cooking a cauli was a basic skill!

(..and yes we definately bought one - mind you at half price as I was hesitant to try it...:rotfl:)

Good heavens, greying, you were up *before* the larks!!!

You set yourself an awfully high standard in never wanting to be at all grumpy ... I don't think its quite possible, y'know ... hope you have some pleasant moments in all the busy-ness today - its not exactly stand at the field gate and smell the flowers, but even autumn colours can be lovely :)

    Good Evening :hello:

I've just been in Liguria with Gino d'cAmpo. T'was awfully nice :D

I didn't achieve a nsd today :( But I bought what was on the list and picked up a perfectly nice bottle of Soave with 1/3rd off from MrA :D

rtandon - so good that you get on with your veg man :D Can you imagine what I'd be like if anyone round 'ere started selling interesting veg? One of the shops in the precinct made a massive announcement that they were stocking veg from yesterday. I wandered past today, and saw the price list in the window. is all. Organic? Nope. Local? Doubt it. From the local market 50 miles away - prolly. Most of which comes from the wholesale market in the same locale? most definitely....... pfft! The ald* S6 have no threat of competition........... ;)

karma - yes, you're right...... but grumpiness does seem such a waste of precious energy..... don'tcha think? :D

upsidedownbear - i'll claim my Friday huggle if I may? Ta muchly :D:D:D

At least I had no time for 'grumpiness' today :D Mucho achieved on all fronts, and I even managed to do a 'secret' favour for DP that brought a smile to his face when he found out - smiles have been all to absent in the last day or two :o:)

I bumped into a lovely lady that I got to know from the allotment today. When I first knew her, she was lovely, but very...... prickly is the word I think. Anyway, unfortunately, in the time that I have known her, she lost her beloved hubbie, and time has moved on, but it's actually been easier to 'know' her iyswim. We had a good auld natter - she was glad I hadn't 'pegged it', as it is such a worry as we all get older......... But she is a vibrant lady, with many interests and takes triumphs and tragedy in her stride. She is a gardener, cook, jam-maker, sewist, knitter - she was an MSE'er before Marty were a twinkle ;)

Dinner this evening? Well, well, well. Miss Leanne has been, gorn, dunnit again! She has managed to make a recipe - that previously (long-time since) had tripped me up - accessible :j Tonight I made Leanne's Broccoli and Mozarella Calzone from pg 80 of Good and CheapI actually made the 'fast' pizza dough recipe (From Scratch pg 45) from last Friday night to make these - but it varies very little from the recipe that Leanne gives. I used mrM frozen broccoli in place of the broccoli rabe that Leanne uses. I tried to grow it for several years - which is the closest that I ever got to eating some in these ere parts! It's very like PSB, but all green. I used mrA smartiepricie Mozzarella - x2 so 86p. The result? LUSH :D

    004_zps03389b28.jpg

    I couldn't get them to brown as much as Leanne proposed (I blame my oven), certainly not in 6-8 mins, but those on the plate were actually quite crispy and the 2 that got left in the oven whilst we ate got better colour;

    012_zps80d92871.jpg

The cheese was oozy, the broccoli tasty and the dough crispy YUM! Certainly filling. We will see what the 2 other calzones taste like cold. Those are m&$ YS'd potatoes with the calzones, and a chilled glass of soave compliments the pic :D

I will definitely keep that recipe in my collection. It may well inspire me to experiment with tomato based calzone too (my previous attempt was tomato based, but I think that I didn't roll the dough thinly enough and my oven at the time was too cool). Edit: I have just been writing up this recipe into my collection, and I forgot to say that I, as a vegetarian, omitted the anchovies too - but I did add red onion in with the garlic/chilli flakes/cheese etc.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

For bumping into *P* and having a good auld natter :D

That it takes very little to make DP happy :D

That we successfully rang the changes on 'Friday night is pizza night' with a tasty frugal alternative :D

Thank you so very much for popping by, reading, joining in and distributing huggles. Mucho mucho appreciated. As ever :D

    See y'all later.

Why is it that I always feel hungry after reading your posts? Even if I've just eaten?:)
