Wow Greying those flatbreads look deeelish! Any chance of a linkie?

Ay up hun :D Yep, I'm afraid that the 'flavourings' were made up on the spot, so I just tossed in (toasted) sesame seeds, onion seeds, ajwain seeds and fresh parsley into the dough. But the recipe for the breads is HERE You can see from the pic, the breads are supposed to be more puffy. This is because they are made with SR flour, but I only ever carry plain (AP) and add raising agents to it. I forgot last night :o hence them being much nearer flat breads than I intended :o

    Good Morning :hello:
.......the ingredients certainly suggest a really flavoursome soup which can not be imparted visually - if you don't mind me saying :) ....

:rotfl: tis a good job I *know* ya hun - could've have sworn you was implying me food was *beige*........... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I wonder whether breadcrumbs would be a better bet for a dip? Or you could just transfer the spice combination over to a hoummus recipe?

So, what am I up to today? Well, I'm aiming for a NSD. Should be able to snag one :D

Dinner this evening will be a *Buddha bowl* - yep folks, we're near the end of the month again :o

Right, I've snap to pack up, best shift a tail-feather.

I like your three things from yesterday very much.

Hope today goes well for ya.

As for 'Dor' hope to be like that one day meself, I guess we all do. There's a wee wumman in this here village who skoots about on her mobility scooter grinning in a flopsie hat and a frock. She waved at me the other day and told me 'so much to do, so little time' as she whizzed off in a wave and a cloud of rose water. Brilliant.

I'm willing your budget to allow you tomotoes. *Adopts zen like pose*

Have a great day today, Greying and all her chums.

    Good Evening :hello:

I think the oppressive heat is beginning to get to me a little, I am in such a funk, for absolutely, positively no reason at all - even DP and I started bickering and point scoring at one point over dinner, luckily we realised we were doing it and stopped at 1-1......... :o

I did bag a NSD today :j Small things and all that :D

    Dinner was a *Buddha Bowl*. Pic here;

    007_zpseea647cc.jpg

It probably looks a little dry - officianados of the dish will realise that there was no sauce/dressing, but there is a drizzle of olive oil on it, and actually, to eat, it was lovely and moist - the spinach I guess.

So from the bottom we have a brown lentil and rice mix with coriander and sumac mixed through it. Topped with red onion/celery/garlic mixed with spinach and red peppers. On that is a sliced boiled egg with smoked paprika, black onion seed, parsley and a dash of olive oil.

Cheap, cheerful and actually, quite yummy :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

that the bloke who came hurtling around the corner, on the pavement on his bike with no brakes, somehow managed to avoid hitting me - not worth contemplating the alternative.......

that my funk is temporary - I'm trying to ignore myself..... :rotfl:

that DP is an A1, all-round good fella :kisses3: - and Team Greying rocks :D

I'm signing off early - going for a scamper around the diaries. I've guilty of neglecting my cheering on duties :o:D

Thank you so much for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

Hi there Greying :blushing: I love beige :rotfl:

..yes thought of maybe going with a hoummus recipe too, bought a YS pot of 4 dips today for 60p ready for the weekend - being optimistic that they won't go off by then (sell by date 26th) - picking your knowledgeable brains here ?

    - btw the 'taste of Beirut' blog is fab, thanks for the link - sup(p)er bedtime reading :rotfl:

    Masterchef on now :)

    Good Morning :hello:

sunnyskies - I assume you mean that there are 4 sealed pots in the dip set? Or perhaps a sectioned container that has been sealed? I think if they have been stored correctly and remain sealed until you need them, they should be just fine. It is certainly something that I would have bought/kept, then I would use the usual look/smell/taste test when I came to use them. I'm sure that they will be fine :D

Well, Friday already. At least temperatures have cooled down in the vicinity of Greying Towers and for that I am already grateful.... :D Shame we could not of had a bit of a thunderstorm too, get rid of the stagnant energy that's present. But cooler/fresher is good :D

I could get another NSD today, so I'll be keeping a sharp eye out for it :D

Dinner this evening is going to be pizza. It was going to be mozzarella and tomato on the original planner, but I have some 'sweet bite' mini peppers left over from the holidays and they need using up. As I'd have to buy the tomatoes, I'll go for the :money: route first :D

Right, I've snap to make, so I'd best vamoose :D

Thank you for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

Hi GP (don't ask what I'm doing up so early - it's the heat, hfs, excitement re new job etc :o).

Hope your funk has passed. I know what you mean. We have now had a couple of storms but still muggy.

Love your Buddha bowl. I have lots of eggs to use up (£3 for tray from DD school friend). OH not keen on boiled eggs so have fried, scrambled and baked. Please let me know if you have any other ideas. You always have great recipes. Will try boiled eggs sarnies and Buddha bowl with DD.

I'm glad the potential accident turned to a near miss I had one the other day and was very grateful.

I too have to spend some time catching up. Have been busy finishing off old job. Looking forward to starting afresh Monday.

Have a good weekend Greying and friends. Xx

Hi GP (don't ask what I'm doing up so early - it's the heat, hfs, excitement re new job etc :o).

Ha - love how you come to me for an insomnia cure! :rotfl:[kidding!:D]

Please let me know if you have any other ideas. You always have great recipes.

Well supersaver, the recipe that immediately sprung to mind was Yotam Ottolenghi's Broad Bean Kuku. That uses 7 eggs :D The recipe is HERE and yes, of course you are right, it is just a ME version of frittata, but the best thing about that is that you can take the building blocks of the recipe and actually use whatever ingredients you like - don't like broad beans? fine. Use sweetcorn or peas. Don't have cream? Fine, leave it out (I did :D) EDIT: I've just noticed that the Ottolenghi recipe doesn't have a method - in that case, you can find Allegra McEvedy's version HERE which only uses 6 eggs, but the gal has included a method - Hurrah for AM :j Also, I cooked my Kuku in the oven like Allegra's friend - so much easier and if you grease the dish, easy on the washing up! :D

Also, have I remembered correctly that your daughter likes baking cakes? If the oven is on for the Kuku, it would be rude not to make a cake or 2........ :D Sponge always uses up a couple of eggs per 4oz/100g mix .............. :D

If Pippi reads this, she'll implore you to have pancakes for brekkie :D Nigella is the queen of pancakes, crepes, johnnycakes, American pancakes, blinis ........................ :D

Did someone say pancakes ???? Always good. As is Nigella. :)

    :D

    Waves.

We did a 'greying' tea last night and had (french bread) pizza and wedges.

    :) delish it was too.

    Begone funk.

    Just saying.

Thank goodness you didn't get flattened by a bike, not cool.

Weekend plans if I might be so bold to ask?

    Good Morning :hello:

Ha Pipster, knew the mention of panny cakes would entice you into the cafe! :rotfl:

Thank you both for wishing my funk to vamoose. It did indeed, helped (entirely) I think by the change in weather. It cooled and we had some rain, and then we had a brief, but quite good thunderstorm last night that got rid of the static and trapped energy in the air. So all is good at Greying Towers :D

Pippi - weekend plans all involve *admin* - not necessarily that related to paperwork, just all the *stuff* that is involved in running a homestead - you know the drill :D Might try to shoe-horn in a bike ride or something tomorrow, just to make it feel like we've had a weekend - or else it'll feel like we've just had an extra Thursday & Friday :o

Today won't be a NSD, so no sense in trying for one :(

    Dinner last night was nice, although I made the mistake of wandering away from the stove, and contemplating something else, elsewhere in the house....... cue mad dash back to the stove to remove the pizza just in the nick of time....... so yes. the cheese is a little more cooked than I intended :o But at least it didn't burn, and was still sufficiently gooey, like what mozzarella is supposed to be :D Picture here;

EDIT; p'bucket or something is playing silly b's. I'll have to supply photo again.

The bean salad was a first time make. I had some black-eyed peas that I had managed to cook properly in the PC (ie not overcook :rotfl:) and so I kept them with a salad in mind. They were still in the freezer last night, and as I have no tatties at present, I was looking for something to accompany the pizza. I liked the recipe, it's a keeper! If you would like a bash, you can find it HERE I didn't have any cherry toms to put in it, but I don't think that that affected the taste/texture 1 iota, and I didn't have any spring onions (scallions) so I used a red onion instead. I used a green chilli, deseeded. My first choice was a red one, but luckily I tried a piece before adding it into the mix - fiery is not sufficient description! It got composted....... :rotfl:

Right, I'm away to me chores.

Thanks everso for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

MSE, I'm still not rocking the blue, but I think you've altered the contrast a bit, so it is a little better - easier to distinguish the quote boxes in posts anyhow.

    See y'all later.
