    We don't really read Greying - just look at the pictures! :p;):D Just kidding - your diary is a must-see on my list, even if I don't always get the chance to comment.

    "Marvellous May" - liking that already, and I'm not going to be starting as I'd like to with the NSD's either - I suspect you'll record your first one before I manage it though! :D

    Hi and welcome hydrangea - I do hope you like rice :D

    Well, May 1st turned out ok. I got some groceries, got the donation to the FB, but have not dropped it off, the office would have been closed for the day. So I'll try to take it in either tomorrow or next week.

    I found myself 'doing a Jack' this evening and sorting through a mrS basiks bag of veg, into their individual types........ If you have someone really norty in your life, consider giving them this task...... they'll be redeemed characters in about 2 seconds flat! Mega tedious. And the orange supermarket makes sure there is a lot of carrot in the mix.......

    Dinner this evening was another dish from Adele McConnell's The Vegan Cookbook. I made Hungarian Casserole, which actually worked well, I had everything for it - using up a tin of BUTTER BEANS - so I can claim 1/7 of my May *b's* :D It was simple to put together, didn't cost a lot to make and was just right for the murky weather we're having. Picture here;

    034_zpsbf3cc94a.jpg

    I served it up with a portion of coarse bulghar, some carrot (yes, outta the mrS bag) and half a tomato. I particularly liked the use of caraway seed in the dish - that flavour has been a revelation in my culinary journey, I really like it :D I couldn't find the exact recipe that I used - no one seems to have blogged about it. But THIS recipe is very similar - Adele's recipe added in one tin of butter beans (drained) and you were supposed to top it with chopped walnuts - I challenge you to spot who forgot to get the intentionally purchased bag of walnuts out of the cupboard to remind themselves to chop some up to add once the meal was plated up.............:o

    I would make the recipe again, it is good enough to keep as frugal fare :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    that I don't routinely shop in Ald* on a Thursday lunchtime - pre bank holiday, or no bank holiday :eek: (or have I missed war being declared, or Christmas being made into a spring festival? :rotfl:)

    for the convenience of access to a car

    that planning enables spontaneity :D

    Thank you so much for dropping by, reading and joining in. I've realised that a few 'faces' are missing. I hope that everything is well in your world. It's not a chivvy, to get you to *sign in* on the register :D Just know that I'm thinking about you is all........ :D

    See y'all later.

    Hello :hello:

    Marvellous May! I'm looking forward to this very much, Greying and what a brilliant start with an official Doris Day day planned already :D

    You have achieved such marvellous things for April that I am awestruck. What a fine example you set for us all and I feel greatly motivated to achieve some NSD's myself this month as a possible way to save a bit of our overstretched budget. I'll have a bit of a think and set a target :think:

    The 7 b's is a fun idea too. Does bulghar not count? Is it just veggies? Mine would be baked beans, baked beans, baked beans....:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh, and baked beans :rotfl: :rotfl:

    BTW I loved the romantic gherkin, I've never seen one before, although I have seen norty carrots :eek:

    Have a lovely relaxing evening :)

    Tis a bid mad chez nous - our DS has returned to live at home after over 10 years ! He went off to Uni at 18 and has never lived here since. I am awash with his washing and assorted carp - er - treasured belongings !

    Hey little_sweetie - nope, the bulghar will be counted when I use it in Scheherazade casserole/bake as it is a key constituent - the butter beans got counted tonight as they were a key part of the dish, whereas the bulghar was an accompaniment :D
    BTW I loved the romantic gherkin, I've never seen one before, although I have seen norty carrots :eek:

    Ha ha, me neither - funny what oddities turn up in our jars and tins isn't it? Shame we haven't got 'That's Life' to send our 'funny veg' to anymore :(

    Ellidee - thank you for popping in - I wasn't making a roll-call - honest :D I've just noticed that one or two folk haven't been about, and hoped all was well.

    Oooh, well done you. I remember having to move back 'home' several times after getting my independence..... but the parentals got rid of me finally....... :rotfl:And now they are forever asking me, 'When will we be seeing you next??' :rotfl: Ha Ha to his assorted treasures...... I can't believe how much I lugged back and forth :D All [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] stuff that I have subsequently disposed of.........
