Phone Ovivo today and explained to them my internet will only working on the old gprsconnect.com setting

The lady i spoke to was helpful and said some android phones are having problem with the Ovivomobile.com settings she said she will report it to the Tech Support and they should ring me back sometime today (fingers cross) won't hold my breath

She was a lot better then the last person i spoke to seem to know a little more and didn't even say anything about hard-resting the phone.

Brilliant eh! PACing a everyday run of the mill to the world, to UK rocket science where the professor is so intelligent he lacks common sense until prompted to check a single setting by his student !!

  • Guys,

Be careful, OVIVO is charging customers if they continue to use gprsconnect settings. They basically took all my credit / money as by mistake I forgot to change from gprsconnecto to ovivomboile on one of the two computers. When I contacted them on facebook explaining the issue and asking them to credit the money back, they blocked me from posting further on facebook and sent me an email confirming that because of my negative feedback on facebook they have now blocked me from posting on their facebook page and they have also deleted my post.

I still don't recollect where ovivo mentioned that they will charge their customers if they don't change their settings. I clearly remember them sending emails to customers saying if gprsconnect settings will stop working from a specific date.

Can someone confirm that Ovivo did confirm in writing that they will charge customers if customers don't change the gprsconnect setting or they confirmed gprsconnect setting will stop working from a specific date.

I got following email from OVIVO just now because of my complaint:
In response to your complaint and your additional comments on Facebook, we have investigated the matter further and regret to inform you that you are not entitled to any refund of your decremented calling credit.

The changes to OVIVO's settings have been publicised for many months now and specifically on the 4th July, you received an e-mail from OVIVO to your registered e-mail account requesting you to change your settings, which you opened and subsequently clicked on.

It appears that you did not take note of the warnings in the email on one of your accounts and subsequently you have been charged for data traffic.

I would like to remind you that by the terms and conditions of OVIVO's service, you must use the published configuration in order to get the benefits of the service we offer. You have not in this case and hence have been charged.

As you have now changed your settings, you have the full benefit of the service we offer once again. I would also like to add that your comments on Facebook, have been deleted and you have been banned from posting on our page. Our decision for doing this is because we feel your comments are defamatory and designed to pressure our company to give you a refund when you are not entitled to receive one.

Should you wish to make a formal complaint, please do so using the policy and process outlined on our website under our Code of Practice.

    Sincerely,

    Nicky Adcock

I see like you did that they were going to stop using them settings nothing about charging after the disuse date i just thought they wouldn't work.

Apart from all the prior messages before the change (including 30th April and 14th June), in which they gave new settings and also said they would send reminders to people still using the old ones later,

Extract from an email on 4th July [this date seems to be mentioned in the reply you've had recently]:

We’re writing to let you know that the previous settings provided on our service were withdrawn on the 28th June 2013. However, our records show that although we have sent several reminders over the past two months to all customers, you have yet to update your settings.

Please visit our Settings Guides on our website to learn how to update your settings as soon as possible. If your device supports configuration by SMS, you can request us to send you updated settings, alternatively you can use our settings guides or contact our Customer Services team to assist you by dialling 263 from your mobile device (calls to 263 are now free of charge on OVIVO).

As per our terms and conditions of service, you need to be using the published settings to get the benefits of the service we offer. Therefore from the 15th July, if you haven’t updated your settings, you will start to be charged on a per megabyte basis and your data allowance will not apply on the withdrawn settings.

Finally checked my Ovivo balance today and saw that they were charging for internet use. Luckily I am not a big user (a penny here and there soon adds up).
I am very close to 100% sure that I did NOT receive the July 4th email and also assumed that it would simply not work at some stage.

The SMS settings did not work with my phone and in June the new settings would not work when entered manually. I had quite an aggressive email today basically saying it was all my fault (although why they could not warn people by text as well as the supposed email is beyond me).

It all works now (albeit quite slowly) but I am a little disappointed with them over this issue and their initial advice to keep using the old settings until told otherwise.......

You aren't missing much, ads for Wonga every few pages. A great idea let down by Vodafone's poor 3G network (you have to be virtually underneath a mast to get 3G otherwise you drop back to painfully slow 2g).
