It is a term used in the trade to describe 'wet work'!
No it has nothing to do with wet dreams . . . .
What I meant is a professional plumber who does 'wet work' ie: heating systems, drainage ect ect
There isn't a similar term for gas plumbers however that I know of! I suppose you could call gas work 'dry work' thou!!!!!I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
New signature - I am a Plumber (I am just not allowed to tell you!)0 -
Perhaps I am dense.
I would have thought every plumber in the known universe would be a wet plumber? I can't imagine a plumber turning up at my door and saying wellllllll I don't actually do pipes with water in them......0 -
Don't forget where the word plumber derives its origins. Lead flashing, fancy leadworking, lead roofwork all done by the plumber as well as fashioning and installing lead pipework.

There is no way you can fix a problem like this yourself.
Just stop your anti DIY campaign. You are adding no value whatsoever. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
I have ordered a replacement cylinder stat as they are not too expensive and agree its the best first move. Funnily enough its the same model as the one we have but it looks like that one has been produced for a good few years.
BTW you never answered about the filters in the shower valve as suggested by Plumb nor did you answer me aboutWhat does this mean? Stop / start might mean air in pump or air in cold feed to pump. Cold feed to pump should be by direct and independent pipwork from CWST NOT mains.
Although I could understand you having got bored with the thread the way its been magnificently derailed.

No it is not simple!
It may be ok - again if you have some REAL experience . .. .
I am a plumber myself and have given my professional opinion. If people dont want to listen to it then that is fine.
What you have to admit is that there is a million miles between a DIY newbie, and someone with real experience either with Diy or in a trade . . .
If someone called me up with a problem like this I would be telling them that I needed to come and see the problem myself - to assess and run tests on to get the solution exactly right!
How on earth can anyone second guess what the problem is over a forum I do not know.
If DIY is so successful, why do we have plumbers at all?
Maybe I am going to start DIYing my teeth instead of going to the dentist!!!
Plumbing is a professional trade for a reason.
It is of course underestimated which is why there are so many fake plumbers out there in business.
No I am not saying you cannot do it at all either . . .. ..I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!

Personally I think on a forum like this people would shut up and listen a bit more carefully to the guys in the trades giving out advise instead of arguing the toss the whole time!
I mean many threads on here get simply hijacked by a load of guys who seem to want to argue and disagree with each other . . . .
Its a bit sad really!I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
