Moving a cylinder stat higher will just mean more of a bulk of colder water, 3rd of way up from cyl. bottom is standard so that the bulk of the water is at the set temperature, or is likely to be slightly higher;)
WHY, because the cold water inlet is at the bottom, so cools 1st as hot is drawn offSignature removed0 -

Have you checked the hot water temp at one of the hot taps in the house? It sounds to me like your tank thermostat is ok - at the lower temp the tank is at the proper temp and the boiler off. You turn it up, the boiler comes on and heats the water up further - but too hot for you.
Your shower mixer should be able to make the shower either fully cold or fully hot. (Most have a limiter you can set to stop it being turned too hot). However it sounds like either your shower mixer and/or your pump isn't working right - as Keystone says there may be air in there. If you're in a hard water area that will affect the mixer over time as it scales up. The fact you say the shower stops when you turn it below 30c suggests the cold side of the mixer / pump is at fault.0 -
Well if you count a major RTA at the back end of January resulting in my van being a total loss, off work completely for 3 months and only just signed off by the physios a couple of weeks ago to go properly back to work a holiday I suppose you might be excused for thinking that. Still be wrong though.
Cheers
Wow, thought I had the monopoly on misfortune, glad you are fine, (eventually).
My somewhat insensitive self never for a moment thought something like that had happened to you,:o
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Agreed, but at the time I posted that we didn't know wearabouts on the cyl the sat was, hence the comment to move it and see what the effect was.
The bit I've emboldened was my thinking of why the water was suddenly too hot;)
I'm thinking that for a shower, the amount of hot water or rather it's depth, is less critical than for bath water.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

No matter what the symptoms, the requirements, or even size of installation, be it domestic or commercial, the standard location of the cylinder stat remains the same;)
Only variance would be for larger cylinders and calorifiers and the addition of a second stat at high level to combat stratification:)Signature removed0 -

Stratification, layering of varying levels of water Versus temp, yep, been there and done that, just like you, my expertise (if you can call it that), is in the industrial field.
But again, I was working on the fact that moving the stat will affect the water temp immediately at the shower head, not arguing about where it should actually be set.;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

But surely that's what the temperature adjustment facility on the stat does, no need to move controls!
And moving the stat up the cylinder would only have a short term effect and the possibility of continual cycling to ensure recovery rates, and the possibility that recovery rates will not meet demand!Signature removed0 -

But if it changed it would indicate the stat was having some affect?, wasn't offering it as a cure, just a "decider" before further action.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
