BoE Poll

Options
Being that time of the month it's prediction time. So what do you think the BoE MPC will do to interest rates?:money:
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

FWIW, Big Bank (my employer) reckons no change in 2007 and maybe a cut in 2008.

The markets have priced in a rise though.

IMHO a lot of new savings accounts seem to have interest rates, which have a BoE 0.25% rate rise already factored in.

I would say IR 5.75% this month & 6% within the year.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

If you look at the poll name, you will see the time frame in the title.

Shadow MPC were 5 to 4 in favour of holding although the general feeling of those who held was to tighten in the near term. I would say hold this month and a +.25% next month.

Of course if the MPC want to stop playing games they should shock us all with a +0.5 raise but that's just my opinion.

I reckon they should raise them so they got a few extra quid to fly that American back and forth first class each month more easily :)

If this bloke is right, we'll see rates of 7-8%. Perhaps higher.

...as i've said before, BofE are incompetent at best, useless at worst. no change because they don't have the b**** to raise rates 0.25%, even though that would be the correct thing to do. oh well, at least they can leave early, goodie for them :)
