New Look jeans have stained my new sofa!

Hi,
I've recently bought several pairs of jeans from New Look but have just discovered they have stained my sofa making the brand new sofa look dirty (on one side, the side I sit on!). Extremely upset as I had saved for over a year to get this sofa and have only had it a few months.
What are my consumer rights on this? The jeans came with a label to say you shouldn't wash them with light coloured clothes the first time, but nothing about not sitting on light coloured furniture!
Can anyone advise?

Common sense, given the warning on the label, suggests the colour will likely transfer. We never sit on our white leather sofa wearing new(ish) jeans.0

It is a well known problem though. No consolation I know.0

Why should colour from my jeans transfer onto furniture? When I buy clothing I expect the dye to remain on the clothes, if there is a known problem, there should be a warning about the dye transferring to furniture.
Clearly my common sense wasn't up to yours on this occasion, however I would appreciate helpful answers to my problem.0 -

There isn't a problem unless you sit on a place sofa wearing new jeans. I've never bought a pair that didn't have a warning. Mind you, I've never bought jeans from New Look."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
We were told this by the furniture salesman, my daughter was told the same by her furniture salesman, two different companies. It is a known problem.0

Buy some vanish sofa cleaner from the supermarket and it should come out.
You should always wash jeans on there own before wearing as dye transfer often happens.
I wore brand new black jeans once and my legs went a funny puple colour because of the dyeFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Dye transfer from jeans is routinely warned about when buying furniture. You must have just been unlucky I am afraid. if you Google you will find methods of trying to remove it.0 -

I must just be unlucky as I honestly didn't know. I'll google as suggested but will still write a complaint as if the dyes come off so easily on jeans, than surely the clothing companies should just prewash them before selling?0
