You are now taking it to extremes (again). OP didn't have the order cancelled the day before delivery after taking a day off work and not being able to change it.

OP had the order cancelled the day after the order was placed, we haven't been told how soon the delivery date was or if anyone had taken leave from work that couldn't be changed back again.

My example was a fictitious scenario based on the OP's post. It could have happened that way but it's unknown. I was trying to make a point of how unfair some companies can be.

Not sure where I have ever taken anything to extremes?

Good for you, if I was that manager I'd put the phone down on you. They can cancel if they want, and there's nothing that you can do about it.
"I want to speak to a manager because you've acted within the law!"

Not when the suggestion will probably get you nowhere and the retailer is right!

Not sure you'd last very long in a job if you put the phone down on customers.

There is always things that can be done, most managers would give it to you for the original price. I have had a great deal of success talking to companies when I have felt wronged. Sometimes you just have to be a little brave, I understand that not all people can do that.

I try to balance a forum where everyone is on the shopkeepers side.

The pack of wolves side of my arguments is where posters all jump on a new member and give them a hard time.

So much nicer to be polite to people.

    Exactly right!

Usually sellers will say the contract isn't accepted until the goods are dispatched. This allows them to withdraw the offer if there is a mistake with pricing or stock availability for example.

This could be an unfair term... they clearly have the items in stock, so there are no circumstances beyond their control.
    They should honour the price.
Complain on Twitter about this! They will back down and give you the item for the original price.

Being biased towards consumers is the whole point of MSE in general and the Consumer Rights board in particular.

    ?

Thank you for this post! Absolutely!
What is the point for a consumer to sit on a consumer forum to defend shops from consumers? Such a "consumer" must have another face...

It's not really an example of how unfair companies can be, you've just made it up all by yourself.

It's like if there's not really much to complain about Zandoni just makes it up to make companies look bad. That really does show how so biased you are to the company is always wrong, just make it up if it's not bad enough!

It's actually called a consumer rights forum.

People get told their rights then don't like it :wall:

Would you prefer it if people just lied to you and just told you what you wanted to hear?

And which unfair term do you think covers this scenario?

Suppose there's a product which most companies sell for £100.

I could offer that product for £90 and lots of people buy. I then put the price up to £100.

A lot of those people don't want to miss their delivery date so they pay the extra.

    Very naughty methinks........
