Although more of a query than a vent.
My last postwoman delivered my post through the letter box with no problems, but when she was on holiday the relief postie always chucked it in the floor of the porch. In open view of the street as the door doesn't close properly. After a number of complaints, RM said tough, fit an external letter box if I didn't like it. So for the odd weeks my regular was away, I put up with it.
Regular then moved to another round, new guy throwing all my post in the porch. Including parcels that should be red carded, despite a large sign on the porch door saying it is not secure, please leave parcels with the neighbours. He didn't even put it to one side where its out of sight.
So I have a polite word with new postie, explain that items have been stolen from the porch, and his reply is "no problem, I'll put it through the letter box from now on." Which indeed he has.
Which is very helpful, but begs the question as to why the bleedin' heck he wasn't doing that all along. Is it RM policy now, for the sake of speed, to ignore letter boxes in front doors wherever possible?
Any guidelines anyone can point me in the direction of, as I'm genuinely curious.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Leave our post men and women alone.
Everyone takes them for granted and treats them like dirt, they are low paid, many take no breaks during there rounds and carry bags way over weight.
Managers treat them like slaves.
Respect your post man/woman and they will respect you, treat them bad or complain and dont expect your post to turn up the next day.0 -
I don't see how asking what RM policy is constitutes treating postal workers like dirt. Nor is trying to get my post without it being stolen. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Hopefully a half-decent postie will be along here soon to point out that they'd never consider withholding someone's mail out of spite! I'm absolutely sure my postie wouldn't be so unprofessional, even if someone made a genuine complaint against them.0 -

Oh your world must be covered in pretty angels and fluffy clouds.
Some people think the daily post is a god given right and if its 1 minute late they start hyperventillating.0 -

Which is of no relevance whatsoever to the thread.0 -

In a way it is - it's called the Universal Service Obligation.0 -

You really do talk some piffle.
As normal post is not a timed service, how on earth can it be late? There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
This is all totally off-topic. OP only asked about the guidelines, and hopefully there will be someone along shortly who is well-versed in the guidelines. She was also very polite to the postie, who in turn obliged her request, what has this got to do with treating posties bad? Bizarre, and I smell a troll.0
