Thanks people. Independents were quoting 85 so sky call out it is...

You don't ask for a call out, you ask to cancel. Only when you get through to retentions and they ask the reason for cancellation do tyou say that it's 'broken' and you can't afford a £65 call out.
Bear in mind that if the tree growth is the problem, they're not going to shin up it and prune it for you-that's down to you (if the tree is yours).

[STRIKE]Cut the tree. [/STRIKE]How often do you intend to move the dish up before cutting the tree?!
I see nothing in what the OP has written to suggest that the OP has legal access to the tree in question…

    Why do you assume it?
OK then, 'have the tree cut'. I ignored the issue of ownership completely, but the tree needs to be cut by someone, sometime...

But if it's some one else's tree, they are under no obligation to have it or allow it to be pruned simply so that the OP can 'enjoy' Mr Murdoch's offerings.

    Sky are sneaky!!!

They make out that the tech is your once you have done your contract. This is so they can charge you big for replacements!

Also they lock their recording boxes so you cannot use all the features once out of contract . . . .

Last time I called out Sky for the £65 we got a new Digibox and LNB on the dish plus realignment which after 11 years with the old kit I considered to be good value.

Looks like it could be the ever growing tree that the dish points thro or someone has suggested the lnb might be faulty.

Are you really sure that it is the tree ? The elevation that the dish appears to be pointing is not the angle the signal is actually being gathered from, unless you have a prime focus dish.

Sky dishes are offset dishes which means that they are not a true parabolic dish (prime focus) but that they are a section of a much larger parabolic dish.

The drawing below explains it better !

    Check the LNB :D !

No, they're not. It's made perfectly clear that the equipment is yours and not leased (as with VM). Once it's out of the warranty, maintenance is the responsibility of the customer.
As for the Sky+ features, once you cease to be a customer you lose the license for the decryption software. Why would Sky let you use this without payment?
