£65 sky call out charge

Options
I've had sky for years now but recently picture is getting pixelated sometimes...

Looks like it could be the ever growing tree that the dish points thro or someone has suggested the lnb might be faulty.

Question is, if I get sky out at £65 and the dish either needs to be moved up or it needs a new lnb, are the parts included in the £65?

Thanku :)

Yes they are. But no need to pay anything. If you are out of minimum term just say that you can't afford the call out charge and would like to cancel your sub. Once through to retentions, then, hey presto, a free service call will result.
However you can't 'move the dish up' or it will not align with the satellite. If the tree growth has blocked the signal then you need to prune the tree-that's down to you, not Sky.

Actually you can. The satellites are 24,000 miles away so relocating the dish a couple of metres higher won't affect the alignment at all.

You can raise the dish mount up, yes, but it still has to be on the same alignment. I read the OP's comment as suggesting that you could simply point the dish over the top of the tree!

  • threaten to cancel and sky will give you a free service call, no one should ever pay to fix sky equipment as in my eyes that what the subscription charges are for ?

Cut the tree. How often do you intend to move the dish up before cutting the tree?!

I see nothing in what the OP has written to suggest that the OP has legal access to the tree in question…

    Why do you assume it?

Incorrect. Sky equipment belongs to the account holder from day one and is their responsibility to maintain and fix beyond the 12 month warranty. It is not leased. The subscription payment is a license for the supply of subscription TV channels.
Your first statement is quite correct though.

no don't pay. just call and cancel. They will offer you a free call out to keep your business. Even if the free call out doesnt fix your your reception issues it shouldnt cost you anything

isnt it the case that if they come out for free on threat of leaving , that you will enter a new 12 month contract?

Otherwise , what`s the benefit of them attending FOC?
