EHD Telecom - Steer Clear

In February I received a call reminding me that it was time to upgrade my mobile. Alarm bells should have been ringing as the girl was quite pushy to get the new handset arranged there and then rather than me calling back the next day.
Handset arrived, but I rejected it, it would not hold all of my contacts. The handset was returned to me with a free memory card. I still could not get my contacts onto it.
It then became apparent that I was dealing with a company called EHD Telecom not Orange. Their customer service people simply bounced me to Orange customer services (cheeky I thought) who then bounced me to Samsung tech support.
Turns out the handset CANNOT hold more that 1000 contacts, there is no way to use a memory card to store contacts. I rejected the phone again.
Then the saga began.
According to EHD Telecom, as I did not return the phone within 7 days, I cannot cancel the upgrade.
According to Orange, the contract can be cancelled but it will incur a cost to EHD.
EHD claimed that a director has to approve the cancellation. I waited weeks for this to happen to find out that the manager that I had been dealing with had been fired. He left no documentation concerning my problem, let alone his actions (or inaction).
EHD are now back to stating the 7 day rule.
In protest I have set up the site http://www.ehdtelecom.co.uk through which a former employee has kindly given me some direct contact details but does not offer much hope for being taken seriously.

Anyone have any suggestions?

    I found your message very interesting , i too have come up against EHD telecom months after they promised to switch my business tariff to a dolphn tariff.
    I only realised when i called orange to see why my bills were still so high only to be informed that ehd telecom have gone ahead without my approval and contracted me into another "18 month contract " without my knowledge and against the advice of orange who told them they could not switch me over.
    orange advised me to call ehd as they have MIS SOLD me which is against most telecom providers policies.
    As a friend of ours is now in the telecoms industry its interesting to know what commissions you can earn from a deal such as ours.

    I am nowtrying to contact EHD which i find at 5.25 pm that no one is answering the phone somewhat strange as they are a telecom company.

    I will await an answer on monday as i am now wishing to end my original 12month contract which short be closing august. Will i have any joy i wonder?
    Do i contact OFTEL ??

  • I don't want to put you off but I found it very difficult to contact them. They claim to be open 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, but I would not recommend trying after five, I have never had a call answered then.
  • Thanks for your reply. I am now keeping an eye on your website too. I also found that someone else had come up against EHD telecom after i had searched them on google but it seems she got her contract ended after she approached one of the national papers. Interesting isnt it.

    As i mentioned before we have a friend who has just opened his telecommuncations business and offered me into his business and was amazed at the commissions you can make, but he said it was always important to follow up your customer to make sure they are satisfied and happy with your service, maybe EHD should take his advice.

  • Well just as i thought, rang EHD telecom and complained to the young girl who answered the phone, told her i had been mis-sold a new business contract of which i have nevere signed or even verbally agreed to on the phone, therefore i believe this to be "fraud".
    I called them on 29th August and was told she would get her supervisor to call me of which i was given a name. I have my mobile on 24/7 and have not recieved any calls whatsoever.

    I am now going to call "orange Business " on monday morning to see if i can get any joy.

    I am not happy paying approx £190 a month for 2 phones. Any ideas out there of how i can get out of this other then not paying my bill and then being blacklisted by orange, Come on orange you should sort this one out. lets see if they do.

    Companies such as EHD then give other mobile companies bad reputations. yes there are almost as bad as the company who were called Docklands Telecom i remember those too.

  • I originally contacted Orange about this.
    They claimed that I was within my rights to cancel my contract but, it was my job to convince EHD Telecom to actually proceed with the cancellation.
    I spoke with Orange concerning non payment. Their line is that if I were to withhold payment they I would be blacklisted by Orange and they would engage a debt collection agency.
    So they are quite happy to chase me for money, but they will not chase their own "partners" who are chasing their customers away !
  • well its now october i finally managed to get to here to post whats happening.
    I spoke to orange who told me i should have had a customer information form with my phones when they arrived, i checked through all the boxes and as i thought yes you got it NO FORMS and i could not recollect ever gettin any. So i rang EHD Telecom and spoke to the young sales girl who said she would try and get me a copy to which i replied you wont try you will get me the form.

    I finally recieved it via special delivery addressed to the wrong person my name was incorrect as i am sue it was addressed to suzanne also on it is for one phone on a dolphin tariff and the wrong handset ?????????????? Have they just plucked this out from someone else;s file?

    I have just stopped paying my phone bill now so i would imagine i wil get chased for payment. I am now in the middle of looking where to go tomorrow i am searching for OFTEL and will also call orange business again.
    I am surpirsed that the amount of negativity for EHD telecom and the fact orange know about them why dont orange strike them off????

    Its time something was sorted to stop this company mis-selling which is illegal practice.
  • A little more info on my situation.
    EHD had raised a dispute with Nominet over my ownership and running of www.ehdtelecom.co.uk
    We have been through the dispute resolution process and no resolution was found. EHD had until last Friday to pay for an expert to review the case. I have heard no news so I am assuming that they have not coughed up the readies.
    EHD also promised me a review after 9 months of my 18 month contract that I did not want. That should be happening in the next few weeks. I wait with baited breath.

  • i started work for ehd Telecoms in blaenavon last wednesday and quit this morning.

    I seen the job advertised on the job centre plus website. details and job description as follows...
    job title inbound call handlers pod/16487
    description
    no previous experience is required, some keyboard experience is preferred. Must have good communication skills. Duties will include taking inbound calls, going through security questions with the caller before transferring the call.

    it all sounds fine so i decided to apply by phoning and speaking to non other than Rod himself who explained the job in brief he stated i would be taking inbound calls the caller would give me 3 simple details their full name their date of birth and their post code.

    so i turned up for an interview where he stated the same thing again inbound calls so on and so fourth.

    so i got the job and started last week in blaenavon, south wales.
    so i turn up 9am sharp and was teamed up with a really nice girl who showed me what the job entails so she proceeded to make an outbound call using the dialer software to a random 3 mobile user the person answered and she said hello my name is ..... and its just a quick call from 3 mobile about your 3 mobile phone contract am i speaking to the contract holder the person on the line said yes and she proceeded to say just to confirm that you are the contract holder could you please confirm your full name, date of birth and post code please, so the unwitting contract holder proceeded to hand over his private data to this ehd telecoms employee.

    she then said have you had your new free mobile phone yet and asked when his contract was up she then wrote this information down also and handed it on to a very young yts lad who then took the info phoned india with the details to confirm the 3 mobile users details and get info about his contract India gave the lad what they call in the office an e code the lad then took this information to eileen (rods wife) and she then calls the 3 mobile user and proceeds to talk him in to starting a new contract with ehd although never stating its ehd telecoms but saying its 3 mobile she then proceeds to miss sell this man an 18 month contract that was highly over priced and far from what he wanted.

    from wednesday to friday i worked basically as an outbound caller fishing 3 mobile users information for rod and eileen to use against them. i knew what i was doing was wrong but i desperately needed work im not happy with what i have done and i passed rod and eileen the details of around 50 3 mobile users.

    each day i came home more depressed than the last but needing the work i kept going back for 3 days.

    i turned up today monday morning still in need of work i started up the dialer software and proceeded to try to fish the details out of some poor 3 mobile user then rod came on to me and tried to explain to me how best to lie to these people on the phone so i turned to him and said im sorry i cant do this anymore and unless you have something honest for me to do here im afraid im going to have to leave.

    I got up and walked out called 3 mobile off my 3 mobile phone explained what i have been doing and then called ofcom who are very interested in my experience they gave me a reference number and took my details and want me to give them a full interview next week.

    im currently out of work depressed and feeling really sorry for what i have been tricked in to and in turn tricked unsuspecting 3 mobile users in to.

    I hope something good and worthwile comes of this as what i have been through has left me feeling shamefull and seriously demoralised
