This brings back memories of my time with the Spanish bank - they drove me nuts :o. For every single OP they had reasons for screwing it up - in the end they even gave me £ as an apology for their incompetence.

Thanks for the warning! I'll be sure to keep them on a tight leash!

Our fixed period is up in a few months so we may not be with them very much longer.

A few more "tiny steps" lately. 4 no spend days so far this month. Took Small to "pick your own" this morning so low cost entertainment and nice fruit too. Will look like a raspberry soon though - they are so good i can't stop scoffing :o.

I have transferred a few odds and ends to account for paying parents and in-laws back and will have £50 for in-laws next month so another little chunk off that. My parents have asked for a lump sum next year "if we want to pay anything - you can always leave it a few years if you like". Bless them. We are stashing money for that in a separate account.

Mr Delta has £70 to transfer to emergency fund later this week.

I have taken out budget for up until Monday (including a weekend at friends' house) in cash so hopefully that will focus the mind! And we are doing picnic and free museum with them for one of the days so should be low cost. They are quite high earners and usually arrange lovely but expensive things to do so this time I took a deep breath and told them that we are being as frugal as possible so could we do cheaper things - and they were fine about it and actually glad as they are saving up to buy a camper van or caravan. Soooo glad I said something!

Should be another no spend day tomorrow. Am determined to have some funds to make another overpayment this month! And hooray - I'll get to have another chat with the nice people at Santander! :p

Take care all - keep plugging away!

Woo hoo I'm feeling proud of myself today!

Have called up the lovely folk at Santander and increased our mortgage direct debit by £30 per month. This has shaved 11 months off the term and will save us about £3900 in interest (obv assuming rates stay the same). :j

I asked what our daily interest is and it is £10.91:eek: - Mr Delta pointed out that by paying an extra £1 per day we are saving ourselves £10 per day which I think is a good way of looking at it.

Sun is shinging, my mse halo is well polished and I'm on a half day today to go and visit friends for the weekend. Does it get much better than this?!

Hope that everyone has a good weekend.

I didn't think about increasing my DD with S@ntander, you've got me thinking now.

Enjoy your half day and your weekend :)

    Great weekend with friends.

And spent much less than expected :j - I even resisted cake and lovely things in a posh farm shop, took Small to get lost in a maize maze instead.

So have over paid £20 tonight and put another £20 to baby fund.

I really need to go to sleep now. I know I will regret still being awake past midnight when I have to get up in the morning!

Maybe it's because I stayed up too late last night, maybe it's because work is really manic, maybe I'm just a really miserable person but ARGH they are irrititating!!! Phoned up re overpayment yesterday to make sure they don't just reduce next DD by twenty quid and got a right lecture from the person on the phone - do I know it's quite a small amount so won't have that much impact on the balance?! Errr, yes I do thanks!!!

    Ahhh that feels better :p

Every time we make an OP we have to write to the Woolw - this is really annoying but its the only way they get it right! We have tried everything else! They then send us 2 letters back for each OP!! Total waste of trees and costs me a fortune in stamps!! I feel your pain!!

    Woo hoo!!!

Letter from gas people today and we are due a refund of £ 193!!!!

Obviously it will take about a month for the account to be credited but when it does that's £100 over payment and £93 to one of the other "funds".

    Really pleased :)

Oh and I am starting a pension. Can't put in the " proper " suggested amount ( apparently you are supposed to halve your age and put in that percentage of your salary) but it's a start. I feel extraordinarily grown up right now. Really disconcerting!!!!

    Raaah!!!

Another annoying conversation with the Santander people. Told today for the first time that I need to make over payments of at least £261 as that is what it will take to reduce the term by a month. Why didn't they tell me this in the first place?!

So paid over an additional £161 (by pinching it from baby fund) and they will apparently write with the new term.

Will set up holding account online to stash the bits and bobs until I have £261 to pay across.

Apart from that frustration it was a good day!
