Can anyone help me out here... I recently sold a wedding dress on ebay and when they buyer received it she txt me to say it doesn't fit and wanted to return. Obviously I said no, even more annoying I had it on collection only and I agreed to post for her as a gesture at my own cost.
Anyhow as I said no she then started to claim that the lace up wasn't the original lace up and that's why wants to return. She's claiming not as described and opened an ebay claim.
My paypal account is now in a large negative balance.
I have cancelled both my direct debits with paypal and called the bank to order a new card for the one they have my card details on.
Thing is I used the money to pay rest of my holiday so I just don't have it.
I know it's wrong to have done that but I am at a loss and some cow (to put it politely) is playing the ebay buyer protection rule.
As I've cancelled the direct debits and the card can they re set the DD up again and tske the money without my say so? And do they mark you chit rating or send to debt collectors?
I have never experienced this before so I am bewildered by it all.
Can anyone who has had the same experience please advise on why they did.
If it was a genuine error I would rectify it but the dress is perfect it just doesn't fit her!
Thanks Marianne

you have posted in the wrong section for paypal advice, and to be honest
The eBay board is the place for that
you have already jumped in with both cancelling DDs etc
Paypal will refer you to debt collectors0 -
If they are the originators of the DD, then yes they can reinstate it.0
-
She will have to return it tracked at her own cost in order to get a refund so depending on dress cost and postage she may not bother in the end, but cancelling the DD is not going to help as they will still chase you for the debt if they do decide to refund her.0

I assume the case has not been decided yet as funds are being held ( a technicality if your account had o funds). you need to respond to the dispute and refute the suggestion that it is not as described, but usually PayPal will find for the buyer anyway.
Once PayPal find for the buyer the buyer will then be given 10 days to return the dress to you fully tracked. Only when buyer can show a delivery attempt has been made will they get the held funds. At that point PayPal will start chasing you for the money.
Obviously you will no longer be able to use eBay as any future funds received will be taken by PayPal to clear your debt. They will Harrass you for the debt and ultimately pass it on to debt collectors who can be very unpleasant. It is worth asking on the debt boards about the limit of the debt collectors powers, and be prepared to complain when they are exceeded.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. She will get all hers costs back as an item not as described so she will not lose out if Paypal agree with her and by cancelling the DD that makes the OP look guilty.0 -
It was as exactly as described she's blatantly playing the buyer protection it's an absolute joke!:j I'm getting married on 22nd Febuary 2015 :j0

How do you mean originator.? I set up a direct debit with them?!:j I'm getting married on 22nd Febuary 2015 :j0 -

That is not correct. Only the person 'paying' the payment can set up and operate the DD, if it is cancelled and paypal take any more money then OP has protection under the direct debt guarantee.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
