I suppose Colgate is doing this because of the money to be made on replacement heads. I hope they aren't more than the Oral B ones I currently use.

I am reluctant to send off a working brush in case I do not get one back...even though I have registered, what's to say the brush is not received, or Colgate runs out. Hmmmm....

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was paying £20 plus for 2 sonicare tooth brush heads, the colgate ones are £11 off their website and I saw them on amazon for 7 but not sure if they are compatible. I'm wondering if its the same box as the ones on sale, if you read the description it does come with a spare head and carry case, which would be nice. but the toothbrush itself is a bonus
it might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

2010 WINS: £80 SURESWEEPSTAKE, 2 FLIP MINO HD CAMCORDERS, TRIUPH CRYING WOMEN LINGERIE, TOY STORY3 LOTSO TEDDY BEAR, £150 BERRYS VOUCHER, XBOX 36O WITH KINECT
  • I went to Waterloo station this morning to trade in my old electric toothbrush.
I got there at 6.30am and when I got there I saw over 400 people waiting for the stall to open.
There was a line of people from the stall at platform 9 back down to platform 1 and back to platform 5 again.
As I was crutches I did not stay, so if you want a free toothbrush then you will have to get there for 5am to 5.30am to be in front of the line.
I won't be going back because I can't stand for to long.
It's a shame because I really do need a new electric toothbrush.

HOWEVER, GREAT NEWS for anyone living or working in London - see the message below which I have taken from their website.

    How to get your free
    Colgate electric toothbrush

This is pretty easy. Take your old electric toothbrush to London Waterloo station between 9 – 12 July, or London Victoria station between 23 – 26 July. Find the Colgate swap spot and hand over your old electric toothbrush… that's it!

Not sure if there is a thread for the 'live' swapping at Waterloo. It was advertised to start at 7am. I got there at 7.10am & the queue was already about 400 people long!
By 7.40am the queue had lengthened to the whole concourse & the station management shut it down :(. I over heard some people had been in the queue for over an hour and half!

I spoke to a few Colgate reps, and all said it was stopped on health & safety grounds - they had no idea if, or when, it was going to start again. So much for the positive marketing from Colgate

Massive queue at Waterloo this morning at 745am. Some Colgate staff present but didn't look like they were handing anything out. Rather chaotic. Clear the wait would be hours so didn't hang around.

Wow. If Colgate handed out envelopes to disappointed queuers, that's a heck of a lot of toothbrushes going out of the door soon. There is going to be a backlash if useful working toothbrushes are not replaced. New Oral B ones are £17 at ASDA. I'm going to need to buy one to replace the working one I send off, as there is a 28 day wait! Still undecided about taking the risk.

I got to Waterloo station for 07:10 with toothbrush in hand. The queues were very long and by about 7:25 they closed the stalls saying it's too busy and we should come back at 10:30 where they will re-open. This decision was made by the station and not Colgate.

Very badly planned. I've wasted an hour of my time and £6 getting there and back. No chance getting back for 10:30 as most of us have to work.

What should have been a good bit of PR for Colgate has now gone wrong for them and have upset a lot of people including me!!
  • At 8am they were handing out forms for people to take away and fill in. I think one then needs to come back with the completed form and toothbrush between 10:30 and 18:30 and they will give you a new toothbrush. I say I think because it was not easy to hear, and people we pushing and shoving! Not a pleasant start to the morning. Some people were saying that if you got a form, you are guaranteed a new toothbrush - but I am not sure.

Been at WATERLOO @ 7am, total chaos, staff say the stand will reopen at 1030, not sure. I don't think the form means anything, as it can be easily mass photocopied!

Good point and if I remember correctly, if you had no printer the website said just write out the address details yourself on the box.
Do you think Colgate will be cross checking all the toothbrushes they receive against some database of registrations? I don't think so.
