Experian - why so difficult to see statutory report?

I paid for a statutory report online on Thursday - they said they'd email me within 2 days (they haven't) and that I'd receive a letter within 5 working days (I haven't)...
And yet they continue to pester me with emails asking me to pay £14.99 for their all-inclusive service.
I really do wonder sometimes.0 -

Well, let people draw their own conclusion ....Experian_company_representative wrote: »People struggling to repay their debts can get a free Experian report from a not-for-profit advice agency such as the CAB. We provide tens of thousands of these free reports every year to support overindebted consumers in the UK.

Any link, evidence ???
Even this one was true, elaborate a little bit more what process involved, how long will it take to get one ? If it takes longer, is it worthy considering one could get statutory report for £2 if they could wait, one could get it for free for life from https://www.noddle.co.uk
Also why do not just make it free to all people. In the US it is free why Experian can not make it free ?
When people apply for one month trial it is easy to do it online but when people want to cancel it, Why it cannot be done online ?
People have to call 0800 561 0083, again here the line is often busy and difficult to get in touch. Is it because too many people cancel their subscription each day or because Experian deliberately make it difficult for people to cancel subscription ?
Is it a double barriers no exit strategy to make it more difficult for people to cancel free trial ??
What is certain is that, I and other people know our own records better than CRAs. As it is my personal data, I definitely know better than anyone else whether I had loan, how many credit cards I have, how much overdraft I have been using, etc. This information is useful to lender but to me.
The only reason people bother to look at their file on Experian, Equifax and not just relying on noddle is that to check whether there is a mistake in that record, whether CRAs, the lenders have made mistakes of their financial records. As the lenders are using Experian, Equifax were there any other option left to people rather than paying ?
People will normally get paid for time spent if they need to invest time to investigate something whether people make mistake but here the opposite prevails.0 -
I'm not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but the price isn't £15/month to view your credit report but £8.60 as there is a mandatory £6.40 you need to pay for Identity Fraud Insurance.
In this day and age I didn't think mandatory bolt on policies were allowed i.e PPI/Swinton Insurace etc ?Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
The part in bold is what I have an issue with. If it's an identity check you're carrying out, then the procedure should be the same for both.
Why should confirming my identity be any different depending on which product I order?
It shouldn't be.
It's obviously just a way for Experian to put pressure on people to pay extra.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

Doing ANYTHING on experian is a pain in the !!!!. I tried signing up for the credit expert trial and failed miserably as they wouldn't recognise my details. The "online statutory report" is a complete farce because you have to wait for a code to be posted. You might as well not even bother getting the online version and just opt for it by post. And to top it off, the statutory report tells you almost nothing that is useful; mine was a single page mainly of address details, and about 6 pages of blurb! Is it not in the usual format then? I thought it would just show me the same credit report I see on creditexpert, but only updated to the point when I ordered the report.
I ordered a £2 Statutory Credit Report with Equifax and it was the same as a normal report. I was able to ask them to correct the errors in my report on the phone.
My £2 Statutory Credit Report with Experian had nothing on it except previous searches and linked addresses on 1 page, the other 8 pages were rubbish.
Now, I'm trying to get them correct it and the only ways I can do it are by post or email. It has been 8 days now since I sent the email and still no news from them.:mad:0 -
I'm in the same boat, 10 working days after paying, still no access code for the Experian online statutory credit report. I've emailed twice with no response. I've now reported this practice to the OFT and I urge others to do so.
I'm not surprised at Experian's shoddy practices, customer-centric they are definitely not. But I am surprised they are allowed to get away with this.
I've recently and finally put to bed a 20 month arm-wrestle with Experian whereby a "Satisfied" default was re-listed on my credit file as "Outstanding", every other month. The process went like this. I'd write a letter to Experian, attach proof of the satisfied default and enclose with a printed copy of my credit file - all of this was requested each time. The next month the default would be marked as "Satisfied" on my file, but the following month the default would return as "Outstanding". This happened for approx 18 months. After lots of stress, costs and letters. I eventually received a cheque for £150 compensation having complained to the Ombudsman. This essentially covered the monthly fees for Credit Expert which I had to keep live to check the report.
The cause of the problem "technical error".0 -
I bet the technical error would mysteriously vanish if you paid for their rip off creditexpert service.Still rolling rolling rolling......

He said he had CreditExpert
While the past dispute was ongoing. Not now.
They are trying to access the statutory report at the moment.
So my point was if they paid for creditexpert again I bet the technical problem would vanish.Still rolling rolling rolling......<
