Experian - why so difficult to see statutory report?

CreditExpert and the Experian statutory credit report are provided as separate services, so we don't join them up like this - but I understand your frustration. There's a prominent link to order a £2 report on the Experian home page and the process is very straightforward.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I see it now. I think I struggled to find it because I expected to be able to order it by logging in, much like how Equifax works.
The process was indeed straightforward, but I don't understand why Experian can't use the information it has from my CreditExpert membership to allow me to order my statutory report, even though they are separate services.
Presumably if I order another statutory report I'll have to enter all of my information again? It doesn't make sense
Thanks for the response anyway. What will your verse be?

That doesn't explain why you put extra hurdles like sending a code out by post in the way of people getting their £2 report, while giving instant access if people pay your extortionate £15 fee.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

James, your idea of straightforward and mine must be quite different. Its just taken me over 3 weeks to obtain a copy of my report. A report that I can view instantly if I stump up £15.0 -
Experian are the boil on the CRA industries backside. Utter scum.0

Actually, whether or not you'll be asked to go through the PIN verification process doesn't depend on the type of report you order.
We take fraudulent access to your data very seriously and we wouldn't want your information to end up in someone else's hands. I myself had to go through the PIN process too, even though I'm an Experian employee - it is an extra step of confirming you are who you say you are although we understand it can be perceived as making it more difficult to obtain your report.

As I said earlier in the thread, I have already been a member of Experian's CreditExpert and I didn't have to wait for anything in the post for that. Why would I now need to wait for something to come in the post for my statutory report when Experian is clearly already satisfied I am who I say I am? If it wasn't satisfied, then the postal procedure should have been followed both times.
I had CreditExpert back in April or May and my information has not changed since then. Why can't users login to their existing accounts and order a statutory report that way? You already have all of my information and were happy to provide instant access through your CreditExpert service, so suggesting that the reason I have to await something in the post for security reasons cannot be correct. What will your verse be?

I'm sorry. There is just no way experian can justify this other than being a way to make money.
If you are willing to sign up for recurring £15 monthly payments you can show us our information right now. If you are willing to only pay £2 for your statutory report you will make us go through a week long wait (this is first hand experience) to see it. That's not the end of the world, and most people can happily do this.
It is embarrassing to see the reps trying to make the wait for the statutory report sound legitimate for any other reason than experian making money. You are just making the low opinion people have of experian even worse by insulting peoples intelligence. As so many major lenders use you the information you have on us is essential. You are using your position of power to maximise financial gain.
If your premium service was a more reasonable price this would decrease consumers distaste towards you also.0 -

"You are using your position of power to maximise financial gain"...
Welcome to capitalism, have a nice stay! They're all at it by the way. Things like car insurance, which it is illegal not to have, milk you and laugh all the way to the bank. In fact any company which provides a service is essentially using a position of power for financial gain. It's essentially a case of "you pay us what we want or suffer the consequences of your failed apparatus". It's a we need you and you need us situation. Competition helps that to a point, but at the end of the day the customer is always getting screwed to some degree.
Alas, this is not DT...Oh, you wee bazza!0
