I really need to do something with a Halifax.

I had £700 in there account earning 0% for decades.

How can I make the most of this?

Hmh, unless you have a Halifax Reward, you can't. If you have a Reward,
    1. deposit £750 a month
    2. have 2 DDs for different companies that get paid monthly
and get your fiver (or £6.25 with an R85) a month

You can still apply for a Reward, but I gather they are getting a bit a**ey with people who already have a current account with them. Matter of trying, I suppose - can't lose anything really.

Is anybody able to access the lloyds tsb website?

I keep getting a blank screen, even through google cache

Firefox seemed to like it better.

Just remembered that I will be opening a student account for the overdraft facilities in August (Tried to open one yesterday and got rejected due to being conditional offers even though the bank's website said I could still do it - stupid heads -_-)

Will the Lloyds TSB vantage be more worthwhile than a student account to compliment Nationwide's FlexDirect account for the shuffle?

    Hi KKid
I have a flex direct and an HSBC account, I put 2.5k in the flex direct when I opened it so I could earn the maximum interest, once a month I transfer £1000 of this balance back to HSBC, log in to HSBC and transfer it straight back to the Flex Direct - conditions met in about 5 minutes!

    Thanks for the confirmation.

What do you do with the rest of your money?
Where does that go (If you don't mind me asking).
Surely you don't keep it with HSBC as you get no interest.

Not a problem with asking! :)

The rest of my money is in various ISA's and a savings accounts which is being drip feed in to the 8% FD regular saver, I wouldn't leave it with HSBC - wouldn't earn a penny that way!

Thats good, but I would need it throughout university. Will likely be scrapping FlexDirect this time next year too.

I assume I cannot just close and reopen my account to get the 5% for another year, right?

Assuming the offer is still standing.
