I also love the name Isobel and would have used it if I ever had a daughter, until my half sister called her daughter Isobel that was.
Isobel was my OH's choice for our DD, but if I wasn't allowed Cressida he wasn't going to have Isobel
Not really, I'm not that mean, but when she was born the name just didn't fit, so she got Melissa instead (which happened to be my choice) and suits her really well, she's as cute as a little honey bee and looks more Greek than English, especially in photos.
She managed to go all through primary school without another one, and now she's at secondary school there's just one in her year, so we didn't do too bad.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I went to school with identical twins...Sugaray and Stallone. They were a couple of years above me, but had a younger brother called Rocky who was in my year. Just as well they were a family you didn't really want to mess with.
My son and daughter both have very unusual names. I just don't like more common names or made up ones. Ophelia is very pretty but I know 3 of them so would never consider it.
Ohh that's just reminded me of some siblings I went to school with. There was Rusty, Spike, Hope and Michael. I always felt sorry for Michael as it was like his parents thought he only deserved a 'plain' name :rotfl:0 -

What if they both end up calling themselves Jo(e)?
Yes! Known as Josie and Joey, my son is Joe. But "little" Joey also now wants to be Joe. They have a cousin on the mother's side also called Joe.balletshoes wrote: »see thats what I was saying in an earlier post- that spelling of Ayla (Isla where I'm from) is the correct way to spell it, and a common name, in my OH's culture.
We pronounce it to rhyme with Hay - la
I worked with someone whose son was James James :eek:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

My Dad's dark red, but all 4 of his children are fair-haired, like our mother. But we must all carry red haired genes, too, as they are recessive.
Of four brothers in my family. One was very blond as a baby and turned dirty blond, dirty fair and then mousey before going grey, one was black haired from the start before going pepper n' salt, two of us (I was one of the two) were red haired as little 'uns then went chestnut, then dark brown then black before going pepper n' salt (biggest shock was my hair turning black in my 30s).The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. My youngest sons best friend is called Precious which was pretty damn funny when she was having a massive tantrum the first time I met her.
3 of my children have biblical names and one of them is getting really common which I absolutely hate, I love the fact that my children have different names and there aren't many others of them, that won't last long though by the looks of it!
I have only heard Precious as a man's name before.

We get some utterly stupid names at work. I've recently delivered a furious, a Jupiter a dimey and a heavenly valentine.
Valentine used to be a very popular name in Ireland, like Valentine (Val) Doonican. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
