Moving house, best way to keep Sky

We are moving house and after looking at other tv/broadband packages we have decided to stay with Sky, but are wondering how to do it so that we get the best deal. I am assuming that if we just transferred it to the new address we would just continue with the package that we have currently.

It is currently in my name, so if we changed it to hubby's name would we be able to set up as a new customer at our new address with the introductory packages that that brings? If we did that would it matter if the account was set up with the DD coming out of our joint account as it is now or would they realise that we were just changing addresses? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks!

I'd say try as a new customer that way there offer you a better deal aslo being a new customer entitles you to a new box and dish etc.

Depends what you can get. The easiest is to book the move through the Sky website. You'll find it under My Account > Home Move on the Sky website. This will mean retaining your existing account and Sky box. If you register as a new customer with a different name then you will probably get a better deal. I can't see any problem with the DD coming out of the same account. As you won't be mentioning this fact to them I don't see why they should pick this up.

Their CRM system will certainly pick this up though.

When my girlfriend and I moved house a few years ago we did exactly that. She cancelled the old account that was in her name, and I set up the new account in my name but from the same joint account. Got installation and a new box, and they never complained about anything.

Customer Relationship Management...aka Rupert's Big Database.
It's not difficult for the system to pick up the same DD details across 2 accounts

Just cancelled our account after being on the phone for 1/2 hour and and being offered all sorts of reasons to stay including reducing our tv package from £27 a month to £5. The lady on the phone was adamant that I wasn't going to cancel and tried her hardest to keep me!

Now do we ring to set up our new package before we move or wait until we have moved in ?

Call to order 2-3 weeks before your intended date to move. This way, they will have enough time to arrange for whatever is needed (active phone line if not there already, engineer visit if required, shipping the boxes, etc.) and schedule everything as per your convenience soon after you have moved in.

Can you do that without a phone number? When we've tried to look online for the availble packages at that address it asks for a the phone number.
