Best thing to make is hummus! You won't want to buy the shop hummus after you've made you own. You need a food processor:
Blitz tin of chickpeas in processor
Add garlic clove(s)
Salt
Half a lemon squeezed
Tablespoon of tahini (optional)
Tablespoon oil
Blitz altogether. Add a little water if you don't want it as thick.
Yummy!!
Or you can add to a casserole or stew. Gives a lovely texture. I also cook mine with some aubergine and a little onion and fresh tomatoe for a veggie stew.TL0 -
Sour chickpea curry. Delicious!
Sweat an onion with some garlic and chilli. Add a tin of tomatoes, drained chickpeas and a Tbsp lemon juice. Simmer for about 40 mins, add fresh corriander, finely chopped raw onion, more lemon juice to taste. Serve with rice, naan and salad.
Off to soak some chickpeas...................

Thank you
Might give the curry a try tomorow. I have tried store bought hummus and really didnt like the taste so havent had it since but like the sound of homemade, just a question, whats tahini? lol0 -
Tahini is sesame seed paste which you can buy in a jar fromany supermarket. Don't try to taste it neat though as it's bland and horrid.
You can also add a little sun-dried tomato or tomato paste to hummus for a different taste.TL0 -

Not round these parts, you can'tI searched high and low, and now get it from Holland and Barrett.
I love homemade hummus. I make a large batch, then freeze portions for later. I don't make mine as smooth as shop bought, and add loads of garlic. Try it with warm pitta bread and olives.

We have a thread on chickpeas that should give you lots more ideas. I'll merge your thread with it as it helps to keep all the suggestions together.
