Who Does/Does Not Accept Amex?

Many times a smaller retailer, usually an independent restaurant, or a florist, say, has asked me to use another card, as although they take it they prefer not do as they get charged more by Amex than by any other card company. It's tough being a small business, and I usually offer them something else instead!

Just got an Amex Platinum card, add Crocus (gardening etc website) to the 'no' list.

The poole pottery factory outlet Ltd do not accept Amex.

Wilton Carpet Factory do NOT accept Amex Platignum, nor do Pavers Shoe Shops.

Just returned from holiday in Spain, and both Terra Mittica (theme park) and Carrefour (sp?) accept Amex platimun. As with all cc purchases on holiday, I've had to show passport.

To my dismay, found that Pizza Hut no longer accepts it....but I was a little suspicious the member of staff was a little clueless so this could be wrong. Anyone else clarify this as I've not been back since?

Odd for a restaurant to not take Amex.

Used my Amex in the 'hut about 3 weeks ago, no problems.
