I've got a double bed and a single bed with slatted bases from Ikea and both are really good
I replaced the single bed frame when we redecorated daughter's room but kept her original base, she's 15 now and had it for 10 yrsI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Hi there - this is my first post so hopefully ill do it right!
Ive had an ikea bed for about a year now and its lasted well so far its metal framed and survived being taken apart and rebuilt when we moved (the frame itself only cost us £57 but i think they reduced it to £30 before discontinuing it) The mattress was much more expensive cant quite remember how much but circa £200 (it has that memory foam stuff on it) and we also got a mattress topper circa £50 but all together it is so comfortable and the mattress has a guarentee on it for 25 years
Be aware that the sizes arent the same as UK standards and single, double and king are all the same length - brilliant for me as my oh is 6'6 but we could only fit a double bed in the room where we lived at that time so the additional length was as good as a kingsize. You have to buy fitted sheets/ mattresses toppers from them as well if you want a good fit (I bought a single sheet accidently and cannot make it fit our non ikea single bed properly)0 -
I've got one. I've had it for about 10 years, and it's still fine!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hi.. My first post so here goes... We bought IKEA single bed for our youngest and after 3 years had to but new wooden slats (more due to the fact she liked jumping on her bed instead of sleeping!!) Have found that normal single sheets will fit an IKEA matress but you do have to stretch them a bit ""0

One word of advice - make sure you have all the bits - last time we got a bed the slats came seperate -and we had to make asecond journey0

There is actually another thread on hear about Ikea beds, and it doesn't put them in a very good light. There are loads of people who said that the beds needed repairing after only a year or so.
I have supplied many mattresses in Ikea sizes to people who need a replacement mattress for an Ikea bed, but who don't want to go back to Ikea due to their quality.0 -

He he he he!!! My boyfriend fell right through one, I had to go out and get extra strong wood glue, nails and a piece of wood to fix it.

I bought a double size loft bed from ikea about 3 years ago, my other half and i have a combined weight of 26stone(he's 6foot7) and the bed is still in perfect condition, Thankfully we now have a "normal bed" but the loft bed is still in use at my parents home.
