Living in a Caravan – 4 years to the Good Life

I would LOVE to live in a caravan. My friend is doing it, renting out her fancy house to save the cash as she's single!
Oh wouldn't have it, but I'm telling you, if I was single I'd be right into one and saving for a house deposit! I would be RICH, RICH I tell you!!!
It would be cold in winter, but I'd be surrounded by hot water bottles and my hydro heater!
Goodluck! I will be jealous of your progress! xx0 -
If i didn't have my 23 & 20 yr old kids still at home i'd def have a go at this , i'm a 54 yr old f/t working single mum & seriously getting tired of struggling on a low wage, having no life saving in order to make tiny op's on my mortgage . I'd rent my house out & try it for a year,it'd be so worth doing & i could retire at 60 not 65 ....kids eh?!!! Do let us know how u get on ...happy caravaning!!0

Another cleaning shift today which completely wiped me out in this heat! I am beginning to wonder if it is worth doing it as it leaves me little time and no energy for anything else – will know for sure on Friday as I have my first payday. My grand plan is not going to work if all I do is clean for a minimum wage.
Visiting family Tuesday and Wednesday so won’t get anything done then. Sales are down on Amazon this month so I need to put some time into building up my websites. It may only be July but the Christmas online shopping season is approaching and I need to be prepared as it’s potentially a lot of money if I get it right.
Our evening ritual has been suspended today as oh is working late. He normally cooks on the bbq (regardless of weather!) and we have a nice glass of red wine with our dinner then after washing-up snuggle up on what passes for a sofa to watch a movie on dvd (we have no tv). I love this routine.
A school trip of teenagers have pitched up in the next field to us for the next few days so peace and quiet is gone and there are already bizarre noises coming from the other side of the hedge.Thank-you to everyone who posts comps :beer:0 -

I am so thinking the same thing Pennies from Heaven!
I followed this blog avidly when we had our first caravan living adventure a couple of years ago but had forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me! :TThank-you to everyone who posts comps :beer:0 -
First payday for cleaning job and today I also received my main monthly payment from my internet business so have paid a total of £186.52 off the overdraft and put £38.44 into a savings account towards a new(er) car. Very pleased with myself and very excited to be filling out my spreadsheets with some positive figures for a change.
We have been in the caravan for 2 weeks now and it is going well. This weekend may be a challenge though as temperatures are predicted to rise into the 30s here in Cornwall – as long as it stays breezy it shouldn’t be too bad.
The party of teenagers moved out this morning so we should get a bit more peace tonight – they have been Very Noisy and the teachers/supervisors have been nearly as bad as the kids.Thank-you to everyone who posts comps :beer:0 -
Well what I expected but also dreaded has come to pass – my internet business has been wiped out overnight. I have been writing and making Squidoo pages for over 7 years and they have been my only source of income for much of that time. Recently they have made it obvious that they don’t want the sort of sales pages that they have been actively encouraging for years and many people have been finding their income gone in moments and now my hundreds of pages that I have worked on for the past 7 years are “locked” to be wiped from the face of the internet in 7 days.
I suppose it feels like arriving at work one morning to find the doors locked and just a Gone Away notice.
Thank goodness we are no longer living in a house with huge monthly bills to pay, but this certainly puts a big hole in my 4 year plan.Thank-you to everyone who posts comps :beer:0 -
Oh Longships, how sad and frustrating.
I am sorry. Losing your job is tough and not having any warning is harsh. That is the trouble with the internet all anonymous....
I am sure tho that you have the talents and skills to find similar elsewhere?
It puts a temporary hole in the plan, you will figure it out.

We have done it in the past both in a tourer and also in a static and I would do it again in a flash, OH is not so keen though........
I also followed that blog, they too are now living in a static on a site where , I forget his name, does some cleaning whilst also working as a bus driver.
Sorry to hear you have lost your income, its hard. We are slightly luckier in that we have now retired and have a reasonable income from our Civil Service pensions, not massive but helps to keep the wolf from the door.0 -
Amazon cheque has now cleared so that is a bit more off the overdraft and towards the car. Did an extra hours cleaning today but that isn't going to help the shortfall from the internet very much. Will spend the remainder of today researching how I can replace the lost money.Thank-you to everyone who posts comps :beer:0
