Thanks for help dip dap and anon xCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.0 -
I know in some ways this is a harmless "hobby", but I am beginning to reflect on the amount of time spent glitch chasing. I think I need to start considering the cost in terms of petrol and time before I shoot off on my next wild goose chase
. Having visited four Ts the other day for 1p caramels (I found 1!), when to all intents and purposes we don't "need" any, wasting over 2 hours on a round trip and looking at my stash of 20+ Savoury Favourites, I have given myself a serious talking to
.
I have saved a fortune with glitches (and a few extra bonuses on 1p items) but I am going to try and consider whether we need it before spending lots of time shopping.

I think in the early days I "bought" as many of each glitch as I could (eg 20 1p Caperberries!!).
Now I realise that the glitches are ongoing so I buy more sensibly and try not to go out of my way unless certain of a bargain.
No point in stocking up on too much marge as it will go out of date and there are always deals on these. Not doing the Muller glitch as have Greek yogs from before.
Mind you, can never have too much chocolate!Absolutely love the Lizzie Shaw choccies and with such a good date will be great for pressies.
The euphoria rush when something goes to plan doesn't fade with time though!0 -

I totally agree with you.Sometimes I find I spend more buying the glitch items in the month and end up with so many apgs that I have a job to use them all.I find that I save more money just using the wombles and buying just what I want.Luckily I live within a short walk from Sada so don't incur any petrol costs.Last month I decided to treat my sister to a big shop.Still made her split her shop into two so that we could get an apg.Old habits die hard.
My thought for the day is Thankyou to all the shoppers who throw their money away in the car parks for me to pick up.0 -

My Dad is still amazed people throw them away. When we go As with him, in the car on the way home there's me an DD checking the few wombles she's managed to find and (she has better luck than me) when one produces a fiver he just can't fathom how someone would throw 'free money' away as the APG is so in your face instore.
So thankyou to those messy lazy shoppers :T :rotfl:Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

I am ashamed to say that despite being desperately short of money I was not aware of the APG until I found you guys!
I think that we walk around with our eyes shut most of the time.
Thank you to everyone whose advice has helped me in my desperate quest to make ends meet. x
EDIT-Back on the quest, I've been away too long!0 -

I wasn't either.
Funny thing was we did a big shop in As mid last year I think and there was staff there going on about it (I think there was a fiver off your next shop or something too). The laziness in me caused me to forget about it when I got home and I never did check that receipt (it just went in the bin)
I spose there's hundreds of thousands of people like that just like we were. The amount of APGs checked and redeemed must be teeny compared to the amount of shoppers per week.Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!

If every one checked the receipts they would soon stop the apg system. It must be a very small percentage that do check.Think of the amount thrown in the bins.It must run into millions.0 -

Exactly it is a gimmick that allows them to tailor their advertising accordingly.... I would think they must get 1000's of extra customers every week on the back of it though so works well for all0 -
Think I'm all caught up.
Lots of luck to those with docs/hospital appointments today (seems to be a fair few).
Just got home from Ts and did a couple of shops.
Found a lovely obliging SA who took 6 JF MOCs and I used the overage to get a whoopsied pack of pork for a quid for dinner tonight :j
Second shop was entertainingpizzas and general shopping, while scanning my MOCs and a handful of PPs the SA said she'd be paying me to take my shopping away at some point
her face was a picture when the total came in at £1.72 and then it got even better when the till spat out a PP for £6.07 (for the 8 pizzas and other bits) :rotfl:
I got a big well done off the SA and the customer in the queue behind me who I'd probably held up for 5 mins said to me 'I wish I could do that!'
It's days like this I love what we do and it gives me such a buzzI love all you guys (and gals
) for everything you've taught me
I know when we stock up it can cause a rather large outlay we don't seem to notice while we're glitch shopping but when you see the contents of the cupboard/fridge/freezer to me it all seems worth it in the end.
At least if all the shops suddenly closed tomorrow we'd all be prepared for a good few weeks/months/years (delete as stash appropriate)
What a great shop :T:T
The other day at T's when I got to the till my favourite large blue shopping 'bag for life' must have fallen off the trolley. I couldn't believe how upset I was about it was like an appendage I take it every time I shop. SA said I'll give you one of these 10p ones for free but go to cs & see if anyone handed it in. They hadn't. Put shopping in car & there in the trolley park was my beloved bag :j:j I was so happy smiling to myself all the way home. How sad am I?0
