A lot of delivery drivers have cool/hot boxes in their vehicles now days so food being cold soggy is a thing of the past! even drinks are keep cool!
That's very true, the fact that you have thermal cooling products means you can deliver a warm or cold product that will remain in the ideal condition.
My biggest concern with this type of service is payment. Do people pay you via paypal prior to delivery or do you collect the money once the goods are delivered? The latter is not ideal, as you could spend £20 up front and then turn up to an empty house and be out of pocket and therefore your whole morning is basically wasted.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

Yes as you say it can be a concern i used to deliver chinese/indian meals etc and on the odd occasion you would get a false delivery! but overall no problems!
customers will pay you @ the door the same way they do with the chinese/indian takeaway deliveries!0 -
LOVE THIS!!!
This is actually a great idea and the facebook page doesnt lie- people are loving it!
I'd probably try ordering a mcdonalds if I lived there, £4 is pretty reasonable to get mcdonalds food delivered to your home, especially if you are buying for more than 1 person, imagine the price of a takeaway compared to that...
The page seems really popular so far but I wonder how profitable it actually is when you take into account petrol money etc..hmmm0 -

Lets just say that, you offer the service from 8am - 1pm Saturday and Sunday morning and you're very busy during that time then, you could probably manage 3 deliveries per hour which includes the collection of items.
A lot depends on how far the customer lives and what they want you to fetch for them, but if you were completely busy during those 10 hours over 2 days then, you could get 30 deliveries x £4 = £120, so you'd be maxed out at around £500pm less costs.
Earning roughly £12ph during this period would be fine, but you'd still have to factor in fuel, car depreciation and the inconvenience of giving up your own time during these periods, so that would take it nearer £8ph or approximately £350pm.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

The area that those guys are working they are doing it 9am-6pm sat/sun
now these guys wont have any running about going to different shops etc: as it is a small estate that has a Mcdonalds in it as well as a morrison`s supermarket! petrol station! etc: so they have every thing at hand!
so all they have to do is deliver the food and return to base! the estate will be their base!
from experience they should be doing at least 5 deliveries an hour!
now if this is thought out properly it can be a decent little earner!
Ps. just been looking on google maps and it looks like most Mcdonalds have a supermarket very close by!0 -

The only difference with this as opposed to doing takeaway deliveries is that, if you turn up at an empty house with items then, you're out of pocket, whereas, if it's for a food business they would foot the bill.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

I sat down in a pub with a couple of friends and mulled over doing exactly the same as this when we left university back in the mid 90's...
After we'd factored in the likely mileage, extra wear and tear on the vehicles along with more servicing costs (not to mention having to replace the vehicles more frequently), insurance for the cars to be used for business purposes, fuel costs and how much of a pain in the backside it'd be sitting in a queue at a drivethrough all day long we decided against it. After we'd deducted what we thought was reasonable to pay ourselves we decided there was so little money to be made doing it we didn't take the idea any further. I can't imagine it'd be any more worthwhile doing it now, especially with the cost of fuel.
Good luck to them but I suspect it'll be a fad that'll die out quickly enough once they realise they'd get more money from working AT McDonalds than delivering it.0 -
Has anyone thought that this might be completely illegal?!
They're basically reselling goods from other outlets at an upmarket cost - dubious at best! Ok so they might simply claim they are a delivery service - who is responsible in case of any food poisoning etc? Are their vehicles refrigerated/heated etc. where is the quality control? There is a reason McDonalds etc don't do their own delivery.
Sorry to sounds like a spoil sport but all this health and safety business costs legit business a fortune.0
