what is the delivery costs? seems like a crazy idea to me if i'm honest!? no matter how bad a hangover no way would I pay someone to get em a McDonalds ha-ha
Suppose you are saving their license though if they drove.

Mike as far as i know(dont quote me on this though) the delivery charge is around the £4 mark! and it seems to be working as well, 2 others have started in glasgow, belfast etc: seems to becoming big business!
and another started in london last week as well!

I cannot see this as a business if I'm honest, might be a way of making some money but as a legit business I doubt it's worth it.
Are they fully covered with insurance for delivering items? Public liability insurance wear and tear on the vehicles and fuel plus making a wage out of the £4 would be a push.
Good luck to them though0 -
Difficult to tell really mike but it is sure a good chance for people to earn extra cash even after paying some tax!0

thinking about it even further, public liability is a must as if you get food poisoning off one of the deliveries who (if needed) is responsible, mcdonalds are not as they sold it to someone else so the delivery firm must be? and if they are not insured then.......
Far to many pit falls for a proper business IMO.0 -
You could be right mike! crazy as it may seem these services are starting to pop up everywhere! just watch them escalate over the coming weeks!
its only a weekend service as well!0 -
It's not a new idea, they're just marketing it and making it a business. I considered doing it for a while but once I'd factored in various costs and petrol money it didn't seem worth it unless I had a quite new runaround car that was cheap on petrol (which I don't). I also have the insurances that would cover me to do this already so didn't factor those into costings iirc.
I know quite a few people who do this down here (Brighton) though but they get all of their business through word of mouth and transport people as well at hours when getting public transport would be a non-option and a taxi would cost a bomb.Saving for a deposit: £5,400/£20,000

(transport people as well at hours when getting public transport would be a non-option and a taxi would cost a bomb.) Well i hope they never have an accident as their insurance would not cover them! futhermore they are operating an illegal taxi service and could face a heafty fine!0 -

Has it actually been confirmed somewhere that they don't have the necessary insurance and that they are operating an illegal taxi service?!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
