I have to totally disagree with anybody who says iPads are nothing amazing. I have an iPad 3. The screen is amazing quality; the battery lasts ages and the 32gb drive is plenty enough for music, apps, video's etc. My OH has a samsung galaxy tab 2 and that thing drives me insane. It's so unresponsive. It takes ages to load up and it's too 'busy' looking. The only thing I would give marks over apple to would be the play store as its very easy to buy and download. But other than that my iPad wins hands down.

You could maybe look on the apple site for a refurb as they replace parts so it looks like new. Try to go for the largest memory you can. We also have a military style case which we got from amazon and it really makes it indestructable.

I love my iPad, too. Portable, with excellent Apple communications. I had mine 10% off from Apple on Black Friday, an offer on their UK site.

I am in the USA at the moment, but have just seen and spoken to DD on FaceTime.

I regularly see grandson on it, easier thsn Skype, as he used to dive at the PC and put it off.

You will definitely not regret the decision. I had the ipad 1 and now upgraded to a 3, and my brother has the mini and they are just absolutely incredible!
I think the prices are fairly standard, but sometimes they come up second hand but hardly used, but as they have been used then they are cheaper if you did want to try and get a good deal. Always check the serial number online to check it has warranty etc :)

I have an iPad mini, and I love it.

I'd never had an Apple product before, but I literally just got it out of the box and started using it.

It's so quick and easy. I wouldn't be without it.

Thanks for all the advice folks. I think I will go for the ipad as we both have iphones (second hand) that we love and have itunes and icloud accounts that we could link up. After reading your replies, I think I might purchase from Mr T as can get clubcard points. Also I have a Mr T credit card so I believe I get double points? Thanks for all your help :).

At this time you need to be going with the latest ipad, ipad 2 is too out of date and 3 was stopped production wise because they brought the 4 out very close to the 3. There is also the mini if you want a smaller ipad, but it's not as good as the 4.

Consider space needs and what he'd do with it. I'd say minimum 32gb which is dearer.

Also whilst JL gives an extra waranty Ipads are pretty decently made. Battery is covered for 1 year (abnormal drain etc) as is everything else, and unless JL covers accidental damage then I wouldn't bother past the 1 year apple one. Most get broken, not break down.

You'd be better doing somewhere with cash back, or points to pounds, so like tescos, or with nectar etc.

I second that. Best piece of technology I ever bought.

I don't think you can compare the tab with the iPad, the tab is much cheaper.
I have a note 10.1 - that's the top of the range galaxy & much more similar to the iPad. I have one, my bf has an iPad. Both are good.
