i pad advice please

Hi Folks, I'm looking to buy my DH an I pad for his 40th birthday in Oct this year. I have saved all year to be able to buy it or him and i'm hoping it will be a lovely surprise as he has no clue :D. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good deal, and whether you can buy this and get cashback as never done that before? Any ideas/help would be much appreciated. :)

You might be better posting this on the techie forum but I shall be watching with interest!

Apple rarely cut prices by very much. Occasionally you'll get 5% off through Groupon but, if you have a friendly student who'd help I think the student discount is 10%.

If you buy through John Lewis you will get a 3 year guarantee (longer than the Apple one year one.)

I don't know of anyone offering cashback but MrT and MrS both sell them and that's a fair few points you could exchange for deals?
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

Have you considered looking for a cheaper tablet? There are plenty on the market that would probably do just as good a job as an ipad. I dont really use cashback sites but topcashback and quidco are a couple.

Thanks, i did think about Mr T as always like to double up my clubcard points. Didn't realise JL did a 3 year warranty. :) Love the student idea too, will see if I can catch one. :rotfl:

Don't get an iPad, they're really nothing amazing. Get a Galaxy Nexus 7. You can pick them up for under £200 now (new one is coming out soon) It can do everything the iPad can do and more. If the 7 is too small they do a Nexus 10 as well :)

If you know a student then you can get a £35 AppStore voucher with any iPad that you buy from the Apple store. There's no student discounts on iPads but £35 is better than nothing.

I debated long and hard on an ipad or a nexus 10 for DH's birthday earlier this year. I ended up going with the nexus and I am really happy with it.

The resolution is crystal clear and the google play store has enough apps to keep him happy for years. The camera has proved to be excellent. The only drawback I guess is that it is only WiFi but he tethers to his phone if he wants to use the larger screen to watch a movie or whatever if he is waiting on me. The sound has been super also.

I was recently won an ipad and to be honest, I prefer the nexus 10 and I tried to get DH to swap to no avail. he loves it

I got DH the iPad 4 for Christmas the speed is phenomenol and, as he already has iPhone it just made more sense.

FWIW I hated apple until I used his new iPad and have since upgraded my galaxy phone to an iPhone and don't regret it. There are more relevant apps available to me on iPhone.
