I think your partner should do more than tell you to get a grip. You are looking after his children and in a terrible state. Unfortunately it looks like you will need to learn how to take control and be the responsible one and quickly. With three under five to look after on your own you need to be a strong person. Put some poison in the roof and some traps down stairs. Get this sorted yourself and you with be proud of yourself and more able to cope with the inevitable situations ahead of you. Go to mum and toddler groups and make friends so you have a support network. Goodluck.

I can vouch for the plug-in gizmos that send some kind of pulse all round the wiring in the house.

Very effective - the mice just go and live somewhere else beyond reach of your ring-mains; no poison, no traps or corpses to deal with..

OP, why not ask your ex to buy you one? Keep the receipt, send a copy to your landlord and ask for a refund.

By the way, you are following up your emails to LL with snailmail letters through the post, aren't you?
  • It's not mice you want to worry about: it's the rats. Disease ridden, massive, sharp-teethed, hungry rats. Hopefully you don't have those. Sleep well tonight.

the good thing about having mice is that they don't co-exist with rats, so you can be sure the larger rodent is not a problem ;)

People on this site can be so cruel

OP i totally understand where you are coming from. We have had a spider problem and i'm terrified of them, i was actually getting to the point where i wanted to move out becuase every room i walked into i was worried there would be one in there (and more often than not there was).

Why dont you go to your familys for a few nights to have a break from everything and maybe a little support too. Also maybe give the council a call and see if there is anything they can do to help.

Big hugs and i hope you get this problem sorted soon and you dont end up having to move.

As long as you don't leave food out and clear up every single crumb any mice around aren't going to find your home terribly attractive.

I'm no mouse expert (my knowledge of wood mice tails notwithstanding) but I think we may have identified the problem.

How did you solve the problem? Maybe that will help the OP :)

    Hi Kelly,

I feel for you, mice arent my favourite 'pets' either
personally I think you should go and talk to your GP first
Being anxious is never good and you re a mum of 3 kiddies, yes it could just be your hormones, yes it could be the mice, but it could be an anxiety/ phobia affecting your every day life.
Once you spoke to your GP you ll know better, he might even get you a letter and get you moved asap.
you have to look after no 1 so you can take care of your babies.
I have had anxiety attacks before and anything can make your life a struggle when you suffer with them
And shame on people saying :
GET A GRIP, you would if you could! You don't choose to be anxious

    Take care

You are worrying about nothing, especially if rat poison has been put down.

I would also agree with others on this thread - call the doctor and make an appointment as two threads in two days indicates that you are not coping as well as you could.

It's not two threads in two days. It was two threads started at exactly the same time as each other and I done two because one was more about the legalities of ending a tenancy early and the other was for the more personal point of view of getting rid of mice and how you would feel if there were mice in your house.
