The case for identity cards

We are hearing more and more about the need to deny unaffordable services to people who have no entitlement (mostly housing and NHS).

The permutations of possible eligibility are so numerous that even the border agency cannot see the wood for the trees.

So how can doctors, landlords etc be expected to do the work of the border agency?

The population is now so huge that identity cards are an urgent necessity - short-term visitors should be given a short-term identity card which would clearly show their entitlements.

If we're going to let people die because they can't pay for medical treatment, we might as well be America.

I seem to remember that the budgets of both the NHS and Foreign Aid were ring-fenced in the recent spending review.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I want a micro chip.
It would be best if I could do that swipe and pay with with a flick of my wrist and even better if I could some how log on the the Internet or down load an app to reset my heating timer.

I'd really like to be able to leave the house with nothing I had to carry...no keys or wallet. Maybe just a pretty cluth bag with a lipstick in it. And a spare tin foil hat in case mine gets frizzy from the chem trails.

You need to be rich enough to provide for yourself!

But it our NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE not an INTERNATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE.

I support ID cards, it is no different to a Passport or Driving Licence, which most people have already.

Why can we not have one of these, with various entitlements added. (Travel, entitlement to drive various vehicles, penalty points etc etc). Would it not be simpler to have one document for all of this?

Wasn't this how the failed ID card system started?

Lets just have one, then add loads of other interlinked information and information repositories.

Couldn't it be controlled though your NI number/details?

    Like the chip idea.

It's the thin end of the wedge.

And then one day you go to a bar, swipe your card to order a beer and the barman says "sorry sir, you've had your 24 units this week"

Or you order something at a restaurant but are refused because it's over your "fat quota" or whatever.
  • I'll have an ID card when they are free..., but wait, I'll be forced to pay, whilst others who use our so called services get them free. So if I don't have an ID card I won't get treatment, but if I die, the government will take my organs and sell them abroad. We all have a unique ID in our NI numbers, why not use those?
