PPI reclaim query- car loan

Hi all,
this is my first post after lurking around this forum for years, so please be gentle with me!!

I bought a car from a Peugeot main dealer in 2008 with finance through Banque PSA finance,
I am sure that as part of the deal, the salesperson said we had to incude a monthly premium of £35 ish in the repayments, otherwise we could not have that particular deal/credit.

I do not have any of the finance documents anymore ( had a massive shredding session a couple of months agao, seemed like a good idea at the time....) but do know the car registration number, and found the finance companys name through an Experain credit check (as suggested by martin on here),

So my question is where do i go next?
Is it worth pursuing this when i have no firm details about the credit/policy numbers etc to know if i definately had PPI included in this deal,
Thanks for any advice,
(I have been gradually working my way through all the PPI FAQs but there are so many!!)

You will have to send a SAR and £10 to the peugeot dealer to find out the account number. See the front page sticky for a template.

  • Hi!

I am in a similar situation; brought a car with finance from Peugeot in 2010 and no longer have any documentation. However the Peugeot dealer I used has closed down now so not sure where to begin with my PPI claim.

    Any suggestions?

I doubt you'd get very far with a PPI complaint from so recently. By 2010, PPI mis-selling was rather a thing of the past.

Do you even know if you had PPI?
  • I am not certain if I had PPI and wanted to find out. Would I be able to find out this information from Banque PSA Finance?

Even if you did, PPI was not being mis-sold three years ago. Lenders had already tightened up their selling procedures by then (or given up selling PPI altogether).
  • Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me! I bought a car on finance from the car shop in 2007, making the last payment in 2012 and think I may have been mis-sold PPI on it.

The finance agreement was originally through GE Money, it then change to Santander a few years in.

Would anyone be able to tell me who I should write to regarding my claim or alternatively a reputable claims company who would be able to do this for me. As I would like to at least attempt to claim something back as I ended up paying a lot more than the car was worth.

    Many thanks

You send your complaint to the car dealer.

What do you do if the dealer is no longer there? I purchased a ford car from ford dealer in 1995 and have noticed on old statements that I was paying ppi to a company called consolidated life, I was told that because i had only just started work I needed cover. Do I have a claim if so where do I go?

You can't complain about this nineteen year-old finance, as there is no one to complain to.

    Regulation began January 2005.
