Posting an advert nothing to do with the thread multiple times across many boards and then repeating it under new/different usernames when those get deleted. You can't get more textbook for a spammer.

Don't seem to be doing this right! Using XP but don't seem to get an internet update option, just from cd or other location?

What happens when you select "install drivers automatically"?

Don't see install drivers automatically. I right click on item in Device Manager, select update driver or go via properties then update driver and get taken intoI update hardware wizard, then get install software from cd?

have I taken the wrong route?

In the hardware update wizard it says something like if your hardware came with a cd insert it now. But below that there should be "what do you want the wizard to do?" and you have two options "install the software automatically?" or "install from a list or specific location". Do you not have these options?

Yes, I do but how to get it to connect to internet - sorry I'm no expert!?

It should do it automatically.

Rebooted PC and picked up internet option but couldn't find anything! Searched and found an old unused Asrock support disk which found the drivers! All now installed but it hasn't cured the shutdown problem when scanning with Spybot! I guess at the moment I'll have to scan via Safe Mode until I can locate a solution! Thanks everyone for your efforts.

Reading these post with great interest because during the past two days I downloaded some updates from Spybot and I was updated to version 1.4 but nothing has scanned fully since I have completely uninstalled spybot then reinstalled it, with similar problems (the Spybot window is constantly flickering while it is supposingly scanning). Today I have read the opening webpage at Spybot which doesn't give Spybot hardly any credit at all. Does anyone have any ideas or can offer a link of a similar free download on a Spybot type system that does the same job
