Spybot scan problems!

Have run Spybot 5 times today, each time it hard shuts downs the PC after ~2/3 way thro' scan. Have to turn power off then on again at power socket to restart PC. Have run AVG and all is clear. Anyone have any ideas on this problem? Spybot Version is 1.4 with latest updates. Have never had problems with Spybot before! Help!!

I'd go for unistall and then reinstall, or try a scan in Safe mode first

Lord-Gardener,can you not just hold the start button in for 5/10 seconds rather than power off at the socket?

Tried that, just doesn't fire up! Have uninstalled and downloaded and installed latest Spybot. Updated and run in normal mode - shutdown, safemode - scans ok with 0 problems! Re run in normal mode and it shuts down? Very strange!

sicker means instead of switching off at the mains, you hold down the power button to switch the pc off, this is a hardware failsafe. Then after it's powered of press the power button normally to switch on again.

The problem I have is that during the scan with Spybot the PC switches completely off - no lights/sounds on at all. Tried holding power button when this problem first occurred without success which is why I mentioned the problem! Any thoughts on the Spybot Issue? Scans in Safe mode but not in normal mode!

If you mean you have to switch off and on at the mains just to use the power button then it kinda sounds like more of a hardware issue. Maybe your PSU. Running spybot in normal bootup is drawing more power than psu can give. Only speculating of course. Have you tried adaware and AVG AS in safe mode as well, spybot won't necessarily catch everything anyway?

Both AVG and Ad-aware scan fine! Have Spybot lost their reputation?
