At eight o'clock, the first episode of: "Your Money, Their Tricks", about various sharp practices.
It will be nice to hear these exposed without the background chittering of smug idiots telling everyone they should have examined the small print with a magnifying glass.

There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

I will be out tonight, but I might record it.
Thanks.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
Will this be one of those shows where the secret camera hiding presenter practically assaults the perpetrator when he announces that they've been rumbled? Also why do these people sign off on allowing the video clip to be used for broadcast? Almost makes me think that some actor has been hired.0

what do you need to sign off before a clip can be broadcast even on show like watchdog?0

If it's anything like the typical standard of investigative journalism, I doubt it will expose much of anything that someone with a modicum of common sense isn't already aware of.
And of course, if ever the Earth is threatened and they need to find the very best examples of humanity to send off in a rocket, people who always read all the terms and conditions, never forget to make a payment, never make a mistake about a date and never, ever, use a word like 'scam' of 'swindle' without checking to ensure they are using the very strictest dictionary definition - and of course always check sell-by dates before purchasing - they can come and knock on my door.
I think you refer to them (and possibly me too) as 'smug idiots'.0 -

Even if it is true, I don't why people, such as those who, through no fault of their own, were born with less intelligence than average or those whose faculties may be impaired, such as some of the elderly, should be allowed to be fleeced by scumbags who use complex and confusing terms and conditions to hoodwink the unwary.
Oh, dearie me.
I really do seem to have struck a nerve, there.
That must be the third time you've paraquoted that! There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
That may be true, but then again, it may not.Even if it is true, I don't why people, such as those who, through no fault of their own, were born with less intelligence than average or those whose faculties may be impaired, such as some of the elderly, should be allowed to be fleeced by scumbags who use complex and confusing terms and conditions to hoodwink the unwary.
Neither do I, although I do wonder how many people in the category you name will be watching.
Based on how many times Martin Lewis has banged on about EHIC websites that charge, on the various programmes he appears on plus on his own 30 minute shows, plus Simon Calder plus Watchdog etc and the number of people who still fall for it (especially now they seem to have smartened their act up so you don't need a magnifying glass to read the small print - it's in large print that you have to work really hard not to spot) , I doubt that revealing 'shocking sales tactics' in the entertainment industry will make much difference to the people who are likely to fall for said tactics.Oh, dearie me.
I really do seem to have struck a nerve, there.

No, not struck a nerve at all, I just think it's a great quote. :T
Expect to see it wherever you refer to 'smug idiots'.
So, Azari, on behalf of all the 'smug idiots' who post on here - I salute you. :beer:0 -
On another note, I saw Roger Cook in Bath today. Be great to have him back on the box!0

Watched it, thought it was a bit puerile in places. Nothing they reported was a revelation to me, apart from parking prices at the O2. Don't know if i will bother watching next week.0
