thanks to every-one who commented on my original query.
I have got my car back now and the garage gave me what amounts to a 20 % discount so I'm quite happy.

is that discount after they added 20% over the top on the bill

maintenance is your responsibility, if it happened in mcdonalds drive thu would you hold maccy ds liable?

Now if the mechanic overshot the ramp and parked it in his tool box then the garage would be responsible

No it was not quick !!! What with engine transport delays etc. it took 5 weeks in all!!!
