Asda car parking fine

I received a parking charge notice on my windscreen today from a company called Smart Parking for being 5 minutes late returning to my car whilst shopping in Asda. I was going to pay it but have been looking at your earlier threads on the forum regarding this company saying to ignore the notice as this company is a scam. Please could you confirm this. Should I make another trip to Asda and complain to the manager about this fine? I was so furious with myself for being late and getting the fine but I was delayed in the store longer than I planned.

1. It's not a fine, Smart Parking isn't the police or a local authority, they have no powers to issue fines. It is an unenforceable speculative invoice.
2. Regarding Smart Parking, do absolutely nothing until you receive a Notice to Keeper in the post. When you do, keep both the Notice AND the envelope and come back here.
3. Absolutely you should give Asda a roasting. If you were in the store you were in the store, so tell them you are furious at being charged for the privilege of shopping with them!Je suis Charlie.0 -

According to the BPA CoP, which Smart should know of, you are allowed a 'grace' period, that is, a period to enter, find a car parking space, leave said space and leave. 5 minutes? They are just hoping you are a mug and one which will pay up...but coming here shows you are not. You now have the opportunity of making them lose money.Regulars will show you how.
But of course this can be squashed fairly quickly also via Asda!

I have just realised reading my message again that I missed the 1 off of the 5 so I was 15 minutes late will this make any difference to the out come?0

Makes no difference even if you were 5 hours late. Copy this poster and march back into Asda and demand to speak to the Store Manager ONLY:

Dress smartly - jacket and highish heels if you have them, makes you more assertive-looking and will help you feel it too! - and take your receipts from that day (and recent weeks if you have more) and the offending fake PCN. DO NOT discuss the issue with the teenager on the CS desk, tell them you want a fake PCN cancelled and you want to complain to the Store Manager in person about this harassment.
See that linked thread; this can be cancelled in minutes. Don't take any notice if an Asda staff member pretends they don't own the car park. That's a big fat LIE.
If the Store Manager will not cancel the fake PCN tell him/her you will be writing to Asda Head Office and will also post a complaint on the Asda facebook page...encourage him/her to look at what is currently happening to Aldi on their facebook page over the past fortnight!
Come back and tell us how you get on. Try that first, this week, before bothering to try the appeal to Smart.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi everyone, sorry to be asking this but I too have received a parking fine from ASDA through the post though from Smart Parking Ltd saying I need to pay £40.00 within 14 days of this notice or £70.00 after the discount notice. They have picture of my car entering and leaving Asda when I am 35 minutes over my free time. This was due to being held up in Asda by 40 minutes for not enough staff on their tills and queues for the changing rooms.
I have tried to appeal against this fine and send copies of the receipts but their website keeps saying its not able to add images at this point in time.
If I don't pay this fine will I be sent a CCJ by them ?
The parking fine was on 22/6/13 and I only received the letter on Tuesday 2nd July.
I have to say I'm more than concerned about not paying but feel disgusted at Asda for this fine when I spent £85.00 in the Tamworth Retail outlet park.
Anyone help0 -

What to do is covered umpteen times every day, of course this isn't a fine and you won't actually PAY it!
Obviously first point of call is to complain to the Store manager (not the teenager or jobsworth frump on the CS desk who will lie and say it's nowt to do with Asda and that they don't own the car park...). And make sure you go in dressed smartly (not joking!) and COMPLAIN ASSERTIVELY AND FAIRLY LOUDLYto the Store Manager (not a 'Duty Manager' random bod); this isn't about you being at fault AT ALL.
Let us know what Asda say - but stick around and start a new thread when you have read around the current forum a bit, seen other advice and found the new thread button!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
