I think that's going to be a bit tricky

Normally in these cases, looking in the MSE Callchecker will give a range of provider numbers, but Spain Mobile does not come into the 5p 0844 range of any of them.

The 0870 number of PlanetTalkFree can reach Spain mobiles, but only peaktime weekdays.

So I think you might have difficulty with your off-peak contract. Can you get a landline number, and call that via 0844 numbers in the evenings?

On second thoughts, are you talking about a UK or Spanish mobile number?

If it's a UK one, there is no effect on you at all, but the other phone will incur roaming charges, unless it's also on O2 and registered for either My Europe Extra or Chosen country - Spain, then incoming calls are free. Or Vodafone Passport costs 75p per incoming call

He has a UK mobile and is with O2 but hasnt signed up with any roaming services.

Can I call him directly? I was thinking of using any one of those 0844 number even from another country and when it asks for dailing my desired destination just put in my mates number!

I dont get charged at all for calling 0844, I can call someone and speak to them for 6hours! I have no minutes at all it's unlimited!

He is probably sleeping. I also got a '3' contract, do they allow any of these 077744/0870/0844 etc numbers?

    Cheers,

You can call the UK number directly; you don't need any callthrough numbers at all.

But first, his phone must be signed up for this, costing £5 a month, otherwise calls will cost quite a bit. And it takes a day or two to activate it. Then his incoming calls are free, outgoing 25p/min

If his is a contract O2 phone, he can use inclusive text messages at 4 for 1
