Hi my daughter wants a Blackberry Curve 9320 from Car Phone warehouse for BBM. This is going to cost us £69.50 for handset and then £5 extra for BBM with Virgin.

Does anyone know if BBM will become available on Android phones. We have android phones already and got whatsapp which is great and doesn't cost.

Your help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Amanda.

It will be on android by the "end of summer". So knowing blackberry not any time soon.

But yeh. Stay away from blackberry's. They are really terrible phones in this day and age and the £5pm charge is outrageous.

Unless your daughter is a business user haha?

does it have to be a Virgin sim? My daughter is on tmobile for her blackberry 9320, I pay £20 every 6 months for her BBM booster pack. She uses whatsapp to contact me (and anyone else she knows who doesn't have a blackberry).

I have told her she won't be getting another handset from us, her parents, until she's finished secondary school, because she was so desperate for the blackberry (we got it for her for Christmas). So if she gets fed up of the blackberry handset, she'll be paying for a replacement, not me.

    Thanks for your replies.

Blackberry are a rip off for the younger generation and its like keeping up with the Jones! The problem is all her friends have one and if we buy her an Android she will become excluded!

    Hi BalletShoes

Do you have to top up on the T-Mobile every month?

I get where you're coming from - my daughter had her previous android phone (which wasn't very expensive and she paid for from birthday money) for about 6 months before hankering after the blackberry. I now use her old android phone ;). She adores her blackberry though. And you're right - at secondary school everybody has them.

no, once every 6 months, £20 total for the 6 months. This doesn't give her any text or call allowance, but she has whatsapp for non-BB texts, and I think I've maybe put 2 lots of £5 on it since the start of January, to cover the occasional short emergency call to me.

that's not bad really. so your daughter can get whatsapp on the bbm? Do you have to be in a wifi area to whatsapp or does it just go through the bbm. I am really thick when it comes to this bbm!

I agree. Since using whatsapp it is great and so easy to use. think I need to sit down with her. I think this phone is rubbish too!
