Anyone recommend a good small car for the wife?
Hi my wife is looking for a small car. She has about 6k/7k. Just wondering what advice I can get from this knowledgeable place ;-)
We are in Scotland. I have looked at Arnold Clark and Motorpoint. Is there any way to get a few quid of their advertised prices?
Any recommendations on which car she should go for?
Thanks

If you want poor MPG and an underpowered engine for its size go for one of the above.
Otherwise try Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz, Daihatsu Sirion, Suzuki Swift, Mitsubishi Colt 6K new, Kia Picanto & Fiat Panda 5k new. Personally I'd try the Colt or Sirion.0 -

Try the following links to search for models too (see article for full details):
Moneysupermarket*, Autoebid*, Oneswoop*, Broker4cars*, Kelkoo*0 -
Small car? Gotta be the Yaris, can't really say I recomend anything French or Italian, which rules out Peugeot, Renault, Citroen and Fiat
Suzuki Swift could be something to consider as well, but I would definatly recomend a Yaris0 -
6-7k on a car to plod around in, madness. But if you must why not buy a new Fiesta Style @ 6250.
If it's just to carry the kids, we can't complain about our 2001 Ka. It does its job and is cheap to run and if its crashed we buy another.0 -
I'm in the same situation at the moment, although with a much less budget (£3000).
I really want a Toyota Yaris. I hired one for a month and absolutely loved it, especially the digital speedo ( I think all cars should have one!).
Have you asked your wife what sort of car she'd like? Men think of the mechanical side of things and women think of the practical side - big enough boot space for shopping/pushchair etc.?
I can only seem to find decent 3 door Yaris within my budget (people must like the 5 doors and keep them for a long time) so I'm also looking at a Skoda Fabia as well. With the Skoda I'll get a newer car as well as a car I know I can comfortably fit in (I'm 5' 9" and not skinny!:o ) In 2000 my ex-husband and I went round all the garages to buy a brand new car and I didn't feel comfortable in Corsas, Clios, KAs as my knees were too close to the steering wheel and felt it might be unsafe if I had to do an emergency stop!. One bloke at a dealership suggested I was too tall and not to wear heels!
We ended up buying a Skoda Fabia which, unfortunately, my ex-husband kept when we got divorced.
I'm going to look at a 51 plate fabia today at £2950 which, I hope, I will be driving back home at about 6pm tonight.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

OFFICIAL: YOU CAN'T BEAT JAPANESE CAR RELIABILITY
Japanese manufacturers have dominated a poll of the Top 100 most reliable used cars over the past decade.
The list, compiled by independent mechanical breakdown insurer, Warranty Direct, found that every car in the Top 10, and an amazing 16 out of the Top 20, were Japanese models. The Honda Accord was at number one.
Buy a good used second hand one and bank the rest of the money. It will only depreiciate anyway...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
I got a Fiat Punto Grande 1.2 56 plate from Arnold Clarke just over a month ago.
It's a great small car (quite big for its class).
I couldn't haggle the price down with AC but I did manage to get carpet mats, a scratch on properly taken out and some road tax out of them.0
