Tesco clothing - rant - no customer service

Have a look on YouTube, there are videos showing how to remove security tags.
I've had the same problem in the past with stores forgetting to remove tags. Also bought DD a bear from a charity shop once and that had one on. It was an ink one as well. Passed it to OH and hid waiting for him to reappear covered in red ink but he did it easily.0 -
I'd also vote for removing the tag yourself. Then voting with your feet and choosing other retailers in future if you are that dissatisfied with Tesco's response.0

I would also try to detag myself, but I have to admit to being somewhat surprised that anybody lives two hours away from their nearest Tesco - I thought they were everywhere nowadays!0

Stores have done it for me before now, on proof of the card it was paid on, driving license and receipt.Any decent retailer (I'm not sure if that includes Tesco as I've had some pretty terrible customer service from them in the past) should offer to refund your travel costs as it was their mistake.
You may not have the luck you want doing this, though., as it should have been checked before leaving the store (theoretically)I'd also vote for removing the tag yourself. Then voting with your feet and choosing other retailers in future if you are that dissatisfied with Tesco's response.
I think this is the most sensible advice.

We have one on the island now, but prior to that our nearest Tesco was a boat ride (approx 1.5 hours) and a car/bus journey (1/2 hr) to Wick. Not long before that it would have been a car/bus journey to Inverness or Aberdeen. For that reason anything purchased in Tesco would have had its tags removed for sure (it's easy to check and surely they would set off the alarm to remind you anyway!) and definitely wanted!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I'm not sure about that.
I bought 3 pairs of Mens swim-shorts in our local Tesco (luckily only a 15 minute walk away) and I checked the first pair for tags - none.
So I picked another 2 pairs of different designs and went through the self-service tills (I like this option). No alarms as I went through the exit.
When I got home, the other 2 pairs did have security tags on.
To make matters worse, OH didn't want the pair without the tag but wanted to keep the 2 pairs with tags (typical bloke) .
So I had to take all 3 back, 1 for a refund and the other 2 for tag removal.0 -

The tags can be pretty unreliable. When i used to work at tescos, the worst was the HMV tags, they would always set of the tesco alarms if they wern't removed, but never seemed to set of the HMV alarms0
