You never heard of Neil Armstrong? Nor the Apollo programme?

"One small step for man, but a giant leap for mankind": see if google will tell you where those words were most famously spoken.

    Of course I have.

Still wouldn't set foot in the country, I vowed never to go there when they started blowing up tourists in the in the 90's oh, and again in the noughties.

so may one ask where you were living when the IRA were blowing up the residents for 4 decades?

And how could I holiday on the moon when man hasn't even set foot on it yet? ;)

Dreadfully off-topic I know, but I saw that programme too.

    And I agree with this:
And to the OP, why don't you try putting all the info on your post rather than trying to scaremonger people? The vast majority of tourists from the UK will be going to the Red Sea resorts which are not affected.

Incomplete information is just as bad as no information.

But that's all you'll get at the moment, no one has all the info on Egypt right now, not the FO, not even the Egyptian government.
It's an extremely fast moving and unpredictable situation that could literally change overnight one way or the other.
Anyone that tells you anywhere in Egypt will be unaffected in a few days, weeks or months time, is making it up.
    No one knows.

I'd chance getting on a flight today or tomorrow but I wouldn't book a holiday there for any time in the future until I knew there was a bit more predictability.

By 'incomplete information', I meant that the OP could have (and imho, should have) posted the link to FCO website which clearly explains and shows the areas affected - and they do not include Red Sea resorts or Nile cruise areas.

Anyone reading the bare details of the first post could have been unnecessarily worried.

So, what the OP posted is not really 'all you get at the moment'.

I've not had chance to read through the full details but a speed read of the US State Dept's advice to US citizens is to avoid all unessential travel to Egypt at the moment.

Mind you, I'd swap Sharm el Sheikh any day for my destination early next week - Djibouti :(
In and out in 48 hrs I hope

Hopefully there will be some cheap ish flights for when I want to go to the Sinai later this year, in the highly unlikely event it kicks off there its only a short journey to either Eilat or Aqaba.
