beach resorts of sharm el sheikh, hurghada are ok'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Doesn't affect Cairo, Luxor and down to Aswan (i.e. Nile cruises).
And for Red Sea resorts it says; The FCO advise against all but essential travel to the Governorate of South Sinai, with the exception of (i) the Red Sea Resorts including those in the entire region of Sharm el Sheikh, Taba, Nuweiba and Dahab; (ii) the St Catherine’s Monastery World Heritage Site; (iii) road travel between the Red Sea resorts; (iv) road travel from the Red Sea resorts to St Catherine’s Monastery approaching from the east; and (v) transfers between the resorts and the airports of Taba and Sharm el Sheikh. See South Sinai and Road travel.

And the Daily Fail article mentioned in this thread (post #3) is a load of tosh too:

Still wouldn't set foot in the country, I vowed never to go there when they started blowing up tourists in the in the 90's oh, and again in the noughties.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Well that's a personal choice - and I can see where you're coming from, although I've been on a Nile cruise twice since 2003 and wouldn't hesitate to go again.
But I dislike the media giving false information out about anything and I dislike shoddy reporting even more.0 -

I wouldn't risk my holiday booking to go there that's for sure, if it went pear shaped you'd get your money back but it may be too late to book elsewhere.
I don't see it being a particularly worrying personal safety issue, but if I had a family, I wouldn't take them.
As for targeting tourists, there was a couple of car bombs - not that long ago - on the Costa del Sol designed to kill and maim tourists.
These days, there aren't that many places left untouched by terrorists0 -
It's not so much about safety, as you say nowhere is 100% safe these days, but I do begrudge supporting a local economy who rely on tourism only for their own countrymen to blow up the tourist their country are depending on. An yes, ETA are no better, not that I would choose to go to Spain, regardless.
I feel the same about visiting certain states in the US whose residents paid millions towards making my childhood a misery through supporting the IRA.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I take it you must holiday on the moon then as that would be the only place you are 'safe' these days...Still wouldn't set foot in the country, I vowed never to go there when they started blowing up tourists in the in the 90's oh, and again in the noughties
And to the OP, why don't you try putting all the info on your post rather than trying to scaremonger people? The vast majority of tourists from the UK will be going to the Red Sea resorts which are not affected.:beer:0 -

I didn't say anything about not wanting to go Egypt due to safety. Read on.
And how could I holiday on the moon when man hasn't even set foot on it yet?

You never heard of Neil Armstrong? Nor the Apollo programme?
"One small step for man, but a giant leap for mankind": see if google will tell you where those words were most famously spoken.0
